Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stedham, the roll wascalled and Commissioners Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce and Price and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Stephenson absent. as read. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 21, 1948 were read and approved Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1948 presented from: Bland A. Ballard Commissioner Lindgren moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. A petition was presented from Lewis A. Fox, et al for the construction of a storm sewer to accomodate surface drainage in Addition to K. IV. U. Addition and Sunrise Addition to eliminate drainage water standing in the present slough. Petition was referred to the City kanager. A petition was presented for a street light on the southeast corner of iiinth Street and Ellsworth avenue. Petition was referred to the City laanager. A petition was presented for a street light on Ninth Street, in the center of the block between Iron Avenue and Walnut Street. Petition was referred to the City Manager. A petition was presented for the curbing, guttering and paving of Beloit Avenue between Osborne Street and Quincy Street. Petition was referred to the City Mlanager. A petition was presented from Harry E. ranson, to rezone the West 622 feet of Lots 15 and 16, Block 3, Southern Heights Addition from "B" 'residential to "C" Commercial. Petition was referred to the City Planning commission. A petition was presented against the closing of ten -foot alley running east and west through Block 2, Pleasant View Addition and continuing on t rough Block 4� Beverly Lanor Addition. Commissioner Price moved to carry petition and ordinance over one week. Carried. Trust Deed, with a deposit of $p100.00 was presentedfrom Howard Ford, Administrator of 1.,iinerva Conway, Estate, for the perpetual care of all of Lot 100, Block "B" in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Price moved that Deed be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that City Treasurer be in- structed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners' Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. Trust Deed, with a deposit of X50.00 was presented from Lrnest Aebi, for perpetual care of the South 1/2 of Lot 48, Block 29, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Price moved that Deed be approved by the Board of Commissioners, and that City Treasurer be instructed to place deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners' Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. lotion adopted. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Lots 9 to 15, Block 2, Pacific Addition from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the inclusion of certain land in the City of aalina in the "C" Commer- cial District, as defined by Section 5 of Ordinance Ivo.. 3188, and providing for the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina, tiansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District 1Jumber 231, and provid- ing for the construction of a Lateral Sanitary Sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 231 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. 348 A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to he curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Republic Avenue from the east line of Osborne Street tothe east line of Quincy Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution releasing easement to ping-ivichaelson, inc., by the terms and conditions of a certain instrument dated April 2, 1948, acknowledged April 8, 1948, and duly recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Saline County, on April 10, 1948." On motion of (bmmissioner Lindgren the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stephenson absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for and allowing the change of frontage and replatting of certain lots and pieces of real estate, being a part of Evergreen Park Addition tothe City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Lindgren the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce and Price (4) Days: l0) Commissioner Stephenson absent. Layor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5321. Commissioner Price moved that City Clerk give notice in the official City paper of bids to be received up to, and including Dionday, July 19th, 1948 at 7:30 o'clock P. 1A. for the construction of three pumping stations in Salina, Kansas. Lotion adopted. City Manager read a letter from Lloyd Morrison, about his petition for curb- ing and guttering of Kirwin Avenue,from Pershing Street west to City limits. Property line is on City limits, necessary for property owners to pay cash or take in City limits. Referred to City lianager. On motion of Commissioner Price tl.e i3oard of 6ommissioner3 adjourned.
