Regular Meeting of the Board of Comrassioners June 21, 1948. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Stedham, tl.e roll was called and Commissioners Stedham,
Lindgren, Aoyce, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded.

Commissioner hoyce moved that application be rejected by the Board of Commis-
sioners. Motion a dopted.
Ed Soldner appeared before the Board of Commissiomrs regarding V. F. VII.
Celebration, and Kangaroo Court to be held in front of Strand Theatre on South
Santa Fe I'venue. Commissioner Iuoyce moved that permission be granted. Carried.
Commissioner i�oyce moved that Airport Flans and Specifications be accepted
and approved. lotionadoptee.
Richard King and others from the Chamber of Commerce appeared regarding
Airport Plans and offered their assistance in anything they could do to bring them
to completion.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1948 presented as

Commissioner Price moved that applications be approved and license granted.

Floyd E. Swartz and Harold 1-. `Irosswy appeared before the Board of Commis-
sioners regarding plat filed with the Board of Commissioners March 15th, 1948, to
include within City limits a tract of land lying west of Eleventh Street between
Claflin Avenue and Cloud Street.
Commissioner idoyce moved to accept letter from City I'lanni.ng Commission, to
approve plat with alleys. motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance pro-
viding for and allowing the change of frontage and replatting of certain lots and
pieces of real estate, being a part of Evergreen Park Addition to t he City of Salina,
Saline County, Kansas." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creat-
ing and defining a certain Lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina,
Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 230, and providing for
the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District
Number 230, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the
levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment
of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof."
Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented for the paving of Republic 1 -'venue from Osborne to
Quincy. Petition referred to City lvanager.
A petition was presented for a street light at the corner of Front Street and
Republic Avenue." Petition was referred to t he City Dianager.
Petition and letter was presented, regarding issuance of a building permit to
D. C. Coates at 316 West Ellswortl, Avenue, for the construction of a two-story build-
ing consisting of two garages and a four -room apartment. Commissioner Price moved
that same be ordered filed. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for
the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Price, Noyce and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered A-128.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for
the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered A-129.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of Wilson Street from the west line of
Sherman Street tothe east line of Custer Street."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham,
Lindgren, Noyce, Price and 6tephenson (5) Nays: (0) Layor approved the resolu -
tion and it is numbered 1058.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat-

ing and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the con-
struction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain streets in
the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost
thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final a doption the roll was called nd the following vote was had;

the ordinance and it is numbered 5316.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance

ordinance and it is numbered 5318.
An cr dinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "an ordinance
providing for the inclusion of certain lands in the City of Salina, Kansas, in the
"B" Residential District as that district is defined in Section 4 of Ordinance
Number 3188 and providing for the proper uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Price t ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final -doption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 5319.
Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that ten -foot
alley running east and west through Block 2, Pleasant View Addition and continuing
on through Block 4 Beverly blanot Addition be closed with the city retaining easement
rights for maintenance of the sewer. Commissioner Lindgren moved to accept
recommendation and that an ordinance be introduced for first reading. Lotioh
adopted.
Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Lot 173
on Fourth Street, Original Town of Salina, not be rezoned from "B" Residential to
"C" Commercial. Commissioner Price moved to accept recommendation of
Planning Commission.
Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that north 72
feet of Lot 9, on South Ninth Street, burveyor's Plat "A" be rezoned from "B"
Residential to "C" Commercial. Commissioner Price moved that
action on same be held over two weeks. Lotion adopted.
The appraisers reports for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers
214, 215, 218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223 and for Main Sewer "W" were presented. On
motion of Commissioner Noyce same were accepted by the Board of Commissioners and
the City Clerk instructed to give notice in the official City paper that a Special
Neeting will ce held Monday, July 12tY_, 1948 at 7:30 o'clock P. I. for the purpose
of acting on said reports. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Price the Board. of Commissioners adjourned.
