Regular Meeting of the Board. of Commissioners March 22, 19 Leetin g was
called to order by Mayor Noyce, the roll was called and Commissioners Noyce,
Lindgren, Price and Stephenson responded. Commissioner Stedham and City Attorney
Clark absent. J. P. Mize, Attorney was present.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 15, 1948 were read and approved
as read.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Harsh Street
from Santa Fe Avenue to Seventh Street. Referred to the City Manager.
Bids were presented for Water Supply Wells No. 9, to be located north of
Oakdale Drive and between Oakdale Drive running north and Oakdale Avenue; Number 10
will be on the east side of Second Street between Prescott Avenue and Crawford
Avenue as follows:
Layne Western Company, Wichita, Kansas $16,820.00
Guyer Drilling Company, kaeksville, Kansas 18,266.00
American Well Works 19,006.80
City Engineer's estimate in the amount of $18,598.00 was read. Commissioner
Price moved that contract be awarded to Layne Viestern Company as per bid submitted.
Motion adopted.
Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for
the construdtion of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 220 and 221 as follows:
H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $6,041.25
Brown and Brown, Inc. Salina, Kansas 6,189.90
City Engineer's Estimate of Cost in the amount of $6,111.00 was read.
Bids were tabulated by the City Engineer.
Commissioner Lindgren moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company, Salina, Kansas, as per bid submitted in the amount of $6041.25,
and that Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina for
such improvements, in accordance with such proposal, and the form of contract and
specifications attached thereto and referred to therein, and that checks be re-
turned to unsuccessful bidder. Motion adopted.
kir. G. J. Haplee appeared before the Board of Commissioners about rezoning
the North 72 feet of Lot 9, on South Ninth Btreet, in Surveoyr's Plat "A". Com-
missioner Stephenson moved that action on same be deferred until March 29th, 1948.
Motion adopted.
kir. Stone appeared before tiie Board of Commissioncrs regarding drainage
at or about 912 South Front Street. Referred to City Manager.
Mr. R. F. Modig appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding claim
in the amount of $69.64 for car damage. Referred to City Nianager.
Mr. Hiersch appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding semi -trailer
unloading at Kroger Grocery on North Fifth Street. Referred to the City Manager.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Kirwin avenue from the west
line of Quincy otreet tothe center line of Roach Street." Resolution was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented requesting that Fifth Street from Lincoln to Grand
be fixed so that people who work in and out of tree Union Pacific Round House can
get in and out on that street without getting stuck in the mud. Petition was re-
ferred to the City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
City Clerk
