hegular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners February 2, 1948• Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Noyce, the roll was called and commissioners Noyce, Price,
Stedham and Stephenson and City Attorney C -ark responded. Commissioner Lindgren
absent.
The minutes of the Regular heeting of January 26, 1948 were read and approved
as read.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1948 presented as
follows:

Commissioner Stedham moved that applications be approved and license grant-
ed. Motionadopted.

Commissioner Stedham moved that applications be approved and license
granted. Motion adopted.
Electrical Bond was presented from Welch Electric Company of McPherson,
Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Price approved by the Board of Commission-
ers. Motion adopted.
A letter was presented from the City Planning Commission regarding petition
of Verner Smith and Daryl Baxter for permission to move houses from Plainview, Sedg-
wick County, Kansas to Salina, Kansas.
City Manager reported on trip to Wichita, Kansas to inspect houses in Plain-
view, Sedgwick County, Kansas,
A petition was presented from Pd. R. Keithline, et al. protesting against
moving of houses from Plainview, Sedgwick County, Kansas, to Salina, Kansas.

City Attorney was instructed to write an ordinance for moving houses into
the City of Salina, with necessary type of construction.
Commissioner Price moved that Mayor write a letter to Chief of Fire Lepart-
ment and Chief of Police, regarding the fine work of their repartment at the Woolworth
Store fire, January 30th, 1948.
Commissioner Stephenson moved that City lIanager purchase set of "Reports of
Cases Determined in the Supreme Court of Kansas", and a Digest for such Reports.
Motion adopted.
A resolution was presented from the Saline County Bar Association, regarding
purchase of "Reports of Cases Determined in the Supreme Court of Kansas", and a
Digest for such reports.

A. B. Mackie of the Brown -Mackie School of Business, inc., appeared before
the Board of Commissioners and asked to use available space at Memorial Hall for
clb.ss?purposes. Recommendation and approval has been granted by the Memorial Hall
Board. Commissioner Price moved that approval be granted. Carried.
City Planning Commission recommends t at the North 80 feet of Lot 4, Santa Fe
Avenue, Holland's Addition be rezoned from Class "B" Residential to Class "C" Com-
mercial. Commissioner Stedham moved that report be approved by the Board of Com-
missioners, and that the City Clerk give thirty days notice in the official City paper
of intent to rezone from Class "B" Residential to Class "E" Commercial the North 80
feet of Lot 4, Santa Fe Avenue, Holland's Addition, Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the vacation of portions of certain streets and alleys in the City of
Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Noyce, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5276.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
granting permission to change the frontage and replatting of certain lots and
pieces of real estate, being a part of the Addition to the Grounds of Kansas
Wesleyan University, an Addition to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Stedham the ordinance was read and adopted b,,
sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Noyce, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren
absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5277.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and provid-
ing for the issuance of a temporary note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the
sum of $38,891.60 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the
City of Salina to be designated as Series PT -1, pending the issuance of bonds to pay
the cost of said work."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Noyce,
Price, Stedham and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Co mmi.ssioner Lindgren absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is numbered 1025.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 17 and 18, Resolution
Book Number 4.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its finaladoption the roll w as called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Noyce, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren
absent. Mayor approved the ordihahi-�,e and it is numbered A-411.
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
