Meeting was called to order by Lvayor Noyce, the roll was called and Commissioners Noyce, Lindgren, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Stedham absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 5, 1948 and Special Meeting of January 5, 1948 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1918 presented as follows: James Wm. Sloop Douglas E. Patrick D. C. Bross Jack Sprecker Carl A. Lindgren Kennith Howard William E. Dolton Commissioner Stephenson moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Mr. J. H. Moore, Jr. appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding Parking deters in the 200 Block on South Santa Fe Avenue. City manager reported he had made some check on use of meters. Commissioner Lindgren moved that City Attorney check contract and confer with City Manager on taking out every other meter in the south one-half of the 200 Block on South Santa Fe "venue. Commissioner Stephenson moved that Board of Commissioners accept recom- mendations of City Planning Commission to vacate the East five feet on Fifth Street from north line of North Street to the south line of Lincoln Street. Lotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the vacation of a portion of Fifth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas. Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Price moved that request be granted to Ralph Ricklefs on Building Application No. 1488, for addition to structure located on Lots 1,5,6,7 Block 2, Hansen's Court Addition. Motion carried. City Manager recommended that Chemco Chlorinator be used for Swimming Pool in County Park, as reported by City Engineer. Commissioner Price moved to accept report and use Chemco Chlorinator. Motion carried. City Planning Commission recommended that Lot 1, Block 27, Hutchinson's Addition be rezoned from "A" Residential to "B" Residential. Commissioner Lindgren moved that report be approved, and that City Clerk give thirty days notice in the official City paper of intent to rezone from "A" Residential to "B" Residential, Lot 1, Block 27, hutchinson's Addition. Motion carried. City manager and City Attorney were instructed to check with G. J. Raplee, on rezoning of North 72 feet Lot 9, South Ninth Street, in Surveyor's Plat "A" from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial. Letter from City Planning Commission held over. Alfred Lindgren, Jr. was selected as City's representative on Salina Com- munity Chest. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of 1d rwin Avenue from Quincy to Roach; Claflin Avenue from Osborne to Quincy; Russell Avenue from Osborne to Quincy and Quincy Avenue from Cloud to fdrwin. Referred to City Manager and City Engineer. Gas Fitters Bond was presented from Eugene V. Baer, and motion of Commis- sioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. 1 1 C 1 1 247 City lblanagor read bids he had received on truck for Garbage. Commissioner Price moved that City Manager be authorized to purchase truck with lowest bid. Lowest bid was G.M.C. Records on file in City ianager's office. Carried. Commissioner Stephenson moved to accept recommendation of City Planning Com- mission to vacate Lincoln Street between Front and Grant, Block 13 and 14, Morris Addition, and refer to City 11anager to contact Railroad Company regarding grant of land on right-of-way for street. motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the regulation of places of business wherein cereal malt beverages are sold at retail for consumption on the premises and providing for the revocation of the licens of any firm, person, partnership, association or any other licensee for the violation thereof and amending Ordinance No. 4741 of the City of Salina by enactment of new sections, being sections 21 and 22 to be added thereto, and providing for the repeal of Ordinance Number 5203." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk 1 1 An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the inclusion of certain land in the "B" Residential District as that district is defined by Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3188, as amended, and pro- viding for the use thereof in compliance with Section 9 of said ordinance, as amended, subject to such regulations and limitations as may be hereafter provided." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Royce, Lindgren, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stedham absent. kayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5268. Commissioner Stephenson moved to accept pt recommendations of City Planning Commission to build tourist cabins Lots 2, 4, 6, 8 on and 10, Block 4, Episcopal i ilitary institute Addition, according to proposed plans and specifications, and that Building Inspector issue permit in accordance with these plans. Lotion carried. City Planning Commission recommended that Lot 8, Block 144 Oakdale Addition be rezoned from "A" Residential to "B" Residential. Commissioner Price moved that report of City Planning Commission be accepted, and that City Clerk give thirty days notice in the official City paper of intent to rezone from "A" Residential to "B" Residential, Lot 8, Block 14, Oakdale Addition. Lotion adopted. Commissioner Price moved to accept recommendation of City Planning Commis- sion for replatting ten blocks in the southeast part of Salina, Kansas Wesleyan University Addition, between Republic and Claflin and Quincy and Roach Streets. kotion adopted.
