09-02-1947 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOD, SALINA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBER 2, 1947 1.95 j Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 2, 1947. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Noyce, the roll was called and Commissioners Noyce, Lindgren, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Stedham absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 25, 1947 were read and approved as read. Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1947 presented as follows: Archie R. Fry Commissioner Lindgren moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. The following petitions were presented and referred to the Clty Manager and City Engineer: For sanitary Sewer between Claflin Avenue and Cloud Street from Osborne Street to Roach Street. For water main between Claflin Avenue and Cloud Street from Osborne Street to Roach Street. For curbing and guttering Connecticut Avenue from Stapler Avenue to Gypsum Avenue. For curbing and guttering Stapler Avenue from Ohio Street to Delaware Avenue. For sidewalk on the north side of Grand Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue east 100 feet. Dan Bolen and Joe Turner appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding taking into the City, a tract of ground south of Crawford Avenue between the Missouri Pacific Railroad and U. S. 81 By -Pass. Commissioner Lindgren moved that City Attorney be directed to prepare proceed- ings to Ccunty Commissioners to take into the City all that area betweeh the west line of City limits extended south, and south of the center line of Crawford Avenue and east of the east right-of-way line of U. S. Highway 81. Motion adopted. Concrete Construction Maintenance Bond was presented from Loren H. Shuck, and on motion of Commissioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. Combination Gas fitters and Plumbers Bond was presented from F. J. Kastner, d/b/a Salina Plumbing Company, and on motion of Commissioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the paving and grading and otherwise improving of Grand Avenue from the west line of Eighth Street to the east line of Ninth Street." On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stedham absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 1006. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 395, Resolution book Number 3. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading and othenrise improving of Tenth Street from the south line of Harsh Avenue to the north line of Hamilton Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays:(0) Commissioner Stedham absent. On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections _ and on its final adoption to roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stedham absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered A-393. Commissioner Lindgren moved tiat City of Salina send E. J. Allison, City Manager, to Coronado, California to attend City Managers' Convention in October 1947. Motion carried. On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City (Zerk
