Regular i�,eeting of the Board of Commissioners August 18, 1947. Meeting
was called to order by 14ayor Noyce, the roll was called and Commissioners Noyce',
Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson responded. City Attorney Clark absent.
The minutes ofthe Regular Leeting of August 11, 1947 and Regular Meeting of
August 15, 1947 were read and approved as read.

Commissioner Stedham moved that applications be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License for the year 1947 presented

Commissioner Price moved that application be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
Katherine P. Gibson withdrew her application asking for license to sell
beer at 213 Vyest Kirwin Avenue, Salina, Kansas.
A petition was presented asking for the paving of Tenth Street from Harsh
Street to Hamilton Street. Referred to the City manager.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
prohibiting the ignition of matches and lighters and prohibiting smoking within
certain public conveyances in the City of balina, Kansas, and providing for penalties
for the violation t ereof."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5242.
An ordinance was introdu ed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes by the City of Salina,
I.ansas for the year 1948."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5243.
An ordinance i,,ras introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
levying special assessment against certain
property to pay the cost of constructing
certain water service pipes in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner °tedham the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption tl.e roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) mays: (0) mayor
appro°ved the ordinance and it is numbered 5244.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levy-
ing special assessments against certain property to the
pay cost of cutting weeds
on certain lots end parts of lois, and the parkways abutting thereon in the City of

Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote esd had;
Ayes: Noyce, Price, Lindgren, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 5245.

An ordinance was introdu:ed for second r eading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the paving and grading of a certain north and south public alley
between Fifth Street and Fourth Street from Mulberry Street to Walnut Street; and
of the paving and grading of a certain north and south public alley between Santa
Fe Avenue and Seventh Street from Elm Street to a point 532 feet north of the north
line of Elm Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the cost thereof shall
be assessed and the manner of payment thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance wasread and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Noyce, Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 5216.
City Engineer submitted plans and specifications for the construction of
Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 216 and 217, and for Main Sewer "V". On motion
of Commissioner Stedham same were approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City
Clerk was instructed to give notice in the official City paper that bids for such
improvement will be received up to and including Monday, September 8th, 1947 at
7:30 P. M. Ivotion adopted.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution was
introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, gut-
tering, grading and otherwise improving of Third Street from the north line of
North -Street to the south line of Union Pacific Railroad Right-of-way." Resolution
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing and guttering and grading of Wilson Streetfrom the west line of
Sheridan Street tothe east line of Iaierrill Street." Resolution was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A letter, relating to the rezoning of Lot 2, Block 20, Episcopal I1iilitary
Institute Addition, was presented from Chas. Everhart. Referred to the City
Planning Commission.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating tothe issuance
of Temporary Notes in the amount of $5011.50 and p281222.89."
On motion of (bmmissioner Stedham the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Noyce,
Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolu-
tion and it is numbered 1003.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 392, Resolution Book
Number 3.

for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Jtedham the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Noyce, Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approvee the ordinance and it is numbered A-391•
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
