JULY 14, 1947
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 14, 1947. Meeting was
called to order by 1,ayor Noyce, the roll was called and Commissioners Noyce, Lindgren,
Price, Stedham and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 7th, 1947 were read and approved
as read.
City Attorney was instructed to write legal proceedings for sewer to serve
Walnut Street, Olive Street and State Street.

A petition was presented asking for the rezoning of Lot 2, Block 20, Episcopal
lwdlitary institute Addition, from Class "A" 4esidential to Class "C" Commercial.
i Petition was referred to the City Planning Commission.

Commissioner Lindgren moved that applications be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.

Commissioner Stedham moved that City Attorney write a letter to James'. hoe
d/b/a "lu:uehlbach Bar" at 226 South Santa F'e Avenue, to appear before the Board of
Commissioners and show cause why his Cereal Dalt Leverage License should not be re-
voked. I�Iotionadopted.
A letter was read from L. H. Day, Chief of Police, recommending the revocation
of Taxicab Drivers License Number 12 issued to Eugene Jones. Commissioner Stedham
moved that license be revoked. Motion adopted.
Electrician's iiunicipal Bond was presented from Eugene Douglas Cooper. Com-
missioner Lindgren moved that Bond be approved by the Board of Commissioners. i�.otion
adopted.
I City Engineer submitted Partial Estimate in the amount of 419,068.47, to
H. J. Taylor Construction Company, fort he curbing, guttering and paving certain
streets in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Price approved
by the Board of Commissioners.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
authorizing and providing for the issuance of bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas,
in the sum of X65,000.00 to pay the cost of purchasing land for park purposes and
the cost of erecting building on and improving the park system of said city, to be
designated as Series E-138¢ and authorizing the issuance of temporary notes pending
the sale and issuance of s aid bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption t e roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Noyce, Lindgren, Price, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 5230.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering and otherwise improving of Johnstown Avenue
from the east line of Ohio Avenue to the center line of Riverside Drive."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption to roll was called and the following vote was had; A3tes: Noyce,
Price, Lindgren, Stedham and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the reso-
lution and it is numbered 991.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 383, Resolution Book
Number 3.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance making
regulations to protect the health of the public in the City of Salina, and providing
for the requirement of persons and property owners insaid city to connect dwellings
and buildings to the sewer system of said city; providing for notice of the necessity
therefor to persons and property owners; providing t at upon default after notice
that said city may cause such premises or buildings to be connected with said sewer
system and to contract for the installation t ereof and providing that the costs and
expenses t-ereof may be assessed against the property so connected." Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
City Attorney was instructed to write ordinance for sewer in the:-alley.between
Front Street and Second Street from 'Nilson Street, south to 930 South Front Street.
Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the removal of Saline County Shops
located in the 200 Block between North Tenth Street and North Eleventh Street.
Referred tothe Saline County Board of Commissiorers.
New Bus Franchise Ordinance was placed on first reading and referred to the
City lanager and City Attorney.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company
for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on
certain streets in the City of Salina,and providing for the issuance of temporary
notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on
certain streets in the City of Salira, and providing for the issuance of temporary
notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ;ydinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the
City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost
tr;ereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.

from the center line of Eighth Street iestaothe center line of Ninth Street. Reso-
lution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing and guttering and grading and otherwise improving of Fifth Street from
the south line of Otis Avenue to the north line of Euclid Avenue." Resolutioh was
referred to the Board of Commissibners.
On motion of commissioner Price the Board of Commipsiorlers adjourned.
