APRIL 14, 1947
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 14, 1947. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, Breon,
Moore, Noyce and Stedham and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 7, 1947 were read and approved as
read.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1947 presented as fol-
lows:
Homer Stevens
Clifford C. Howard
Edward J. Graham
Commissioner Moore moved that applications be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
Petitions were presented in favor of No -Turn traffic signs at Iron Avenue and
Santa Fe Avenue. Filed until next meeting.
City Engineer submitted his approval for the paving of three alleys as follows:
To the Honorable Mayor and
Board of City Commissioners
Cityof 0alina, Kansas.
Gentlemen:
The Alley Paving Job No. 228, which consisted of
the following alleys:
Alley east of Santa Fe - Ash to 504 feet north
Alley east of Santa Fe - Iron to Walnut
Alley east of Fifth Street - Iron to Walnut
constructed by Brown and gown Inc., Salina, Kansas, under
contract dated September 30, 1946, has been completed and a
final inspection has been made by this office.
I have found that all work has been performed and
completed in compliance with the plans and specifications of
said contract, and therefore recommend that the work be accepted.

Commissioner Stedham moved that work be accepted by the Board of Commis-
sioners. Motion adopted.
City Engineer submitted Final Pay Estimate in the amount of $9,812.80
to Brown & Brown Inc., for the paving of the following alleys:
Alley east of Santa Fe from Ash Street to 504 feet north,
Alley east of Santa fe from Iron to Walnuts
Alley east of Fifth from Iron to Walnut.
Commissioner Stedham moved that estimates be approved by the Board of
Commissioners. Motion adopted.
City Engineer submitted Partial Pay Estimate in the amount of $38,677.01
to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of Antrim Avenue Storm
Sewer. On motion of Commissioner Noyce estimate was approved by the Board of Com-
missioners.
City Engineer submitted Final Estimate of Cost for the paving of the following
alleys:
Alley east of Santa fe from Ash Street to 501 feet north,
Alley east of Santa Fe from Iron to Walnut
Alley east of Fifth from Iron to Walnut
Commissioner Stedham moved that estimates be approved by the Board of Com-
missioners. Motion adopted.

The appraisers reports for the paving of the following alleys were present-
ed:
Alley east of Santa Fe from Ash Street to 504 feet north,
Alley east of Santa ie from Iron to Walnut,
Alley east of Fifth Otreet from Iron to Walnut,
and on motion of Commissioner Stedham, Monday, April 28th, :1947 at 7:30 P. M. was
designated as a Special Meeting to act on said reports, and the City Clerk was in-
structed to give notice of such meeting in the official City paper as provided by
law. Motion adopted.
Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License for the year 1947 presented as

Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a bridge across the
river from Arthur Avenue to Penn Avenue. Petition was referred to the City
Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the paving of Grand avenue from Ninth
Street to Tenth Street. Petition was referred to the City Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the vacation of a 30 foot strip on the
east side of Block 14, Leavenworth Addition from University Place south to Walnut
Street (known as West Place). Referred to he City Planning Commission.
Agreement between George Armbruster and W. J. Broom was presented, and on
motion of Commissioner Noyce carried over for one week. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Breon the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Lloyd W. Price, L. F. Stephenson and Alfred Lindgren, Jr., newly elected
Commissioners, being present, and having the required bond, approved by the Judge
of the District Court, the oath of office was administered to each of them by
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, and they assumed their office as City Commissioner.
On motion of Commissioner Noyce the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
