11-12-1946 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS., REGULAR MELTING COMMISSIONIRS ROuk SALINA, KANSAS NOVEMBER 12, 1946 Regular Meeting of thy: Board of Commissioners November 12, 1946. keeting was called to order by Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, Breon and Noyce and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioners Moore and Simpson absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 4th, 1946 were read and approved as read. Communicationwas presented from the Chief of Police recommending the rev- ocation of Taxicab Drivers License iuo. 115 issued to James T. Mitchell. Commissioner Noyce moved that recommendation be adopted by the Board of Commissioners and license revoked. Motion adopted. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1946 received as follows: Geneva Johnson Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted for day driving only. Motion adopted. Carl A. Li.idgren Bill Carrier Commissioner Noyce moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Harold Crompton Action on Harold Crompton's application held over for one week. Application for taxicab drivers license from Vernon K. Partch was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners, and on motion same was rejected by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the organization of a Firemen's Relief Association: providing for the use and disbursement of the funds created by 40-1701 General Statutes of Kansas, 1935 General Statutes of Kansas, 1935, and by 40-1702 to 1707, Inc., 1945 Supplement, General Statutes of Kansas, 1935, and all amendments thereto, and repealing Ordinance Number 4816 and 4599." On motion of Commissioner Noyce the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was camel and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, Breon and Noyce (3) Nays: (0) Commissioner Moore and Simpson absent. Mayor approved the _,rdinance and it is numbered 5196 A petition was presented from Neliie White, et al., asking for the vacation of a public street, commencing at the Northwest corner of the Southwest quarter of the Northeast quarter, Section 18, Township 14, South, Range 2 west of the Sixth Principal Meridan, Saline County, Kansas, thence east 80 rods; thence south 2 rods; thence west 80 rods; thence North 2 rods to theplace of beginning, all in the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas. Referred to the City Planning Commission A petition was presented from the Wyatt Manufacturing Company, asking for the vacation of twenty feet on the south side of Lincoln Street, which dead ends at Fifty, Street. Referred to the City Planning Corami.ssion. City Manager was authorized to meet the Pay Roll of November 15, 1940. Motion On motion of Commissioner Noyce the Board of Commissioners adjourned. Meeting was held for the purpose of acting on appraisers reports for the paving of the alley lying between Seventh Street and Eighth Street from Ash Street to Iron Avenue; and alley lying between Seventh Street and Eighth Street from i Walnut Street north 589 feet. TLe appraisers report for the paving of the alley lying between Seventh Street and Eighth Street from Asti Street to Iron Avenue was taken up and read as follows: STATE OF KANSAS ) SS COUNTY OF SALII& We, J. Earl Wyatt, John Frederick and Wm. F. Grosser, Jr., being duly and severally according to law, each for himself, does hereby solemnly swear that he is disinterested in an y of the property liable to special assessment for the cost of paving the alley lying between Seventh and Eighth Streets, from Asti to Iron, as more particularly described and provyded for in Ordinance Number 5164 of the City of Salina, Kansas, and that each of us will to the best of our judgment and ability make a true and impartial appraisement of all the lots and pieces of ground abutting on such alley as above mentioned, without regard to the buildings or improvements there- on, for the distance improved as set forth and designated by the Board of Commissioners in the ordinance above mentioned.
