Salinas Kansas. September 29, 1932.
The 'lanning Commission met in special session called for the
purpose of reconsidering its action of July 14th on the recommenda-
tion of re -zoning to Commercial Zoning the South-west corner lot of
Ninth and Walnut; and the South 1/2 of Block 46 and all of Lot 48s Kansas,
Wesleyan Additions at the corner of Santa Fe and Jewell.
All members were present except Mr. Leighton.
It was moved to reconsider the action of July 14th relative
to the recommending of rezoning to commercial zoning the "Miller" lot
at 9th and Walnut*
The Planning Commission; after reconsidering this believes
it to be more advantageous to the City to rezone more territory
adjacent to the present commercial zoning on the west, in order to
permit possible commercial expansion in this direction instead of
further South, which is having a tendency to create a "one street"
town; and therefore desires tc recommend to the City Commissioners
that the territory included within, the following boundaries be
re -zoned to commercial zoning from the present commercial zone at
Ash and 8th, west on Ash to a point midway between Ninth and tenth
streets., then south along this line to a point 75 feet south of
Walnut, then east to Ninth, then further east along a line 100 feet
south of Walnut to Seventh Street, then north to Walnut., then west to
Eighth., then north to place of beginning.
At this time Mr. McCarty was called from the meeting and did not
return for the balance of the session.
