COMMISSIONERS PROCENDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA# KANSAS.
AUGUST 22nd, 1932..
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 22nd=
1932. Meeting was called to order bg Mayor Stevenson* the roll was
oalled and Commissioners Stevensons moray,, and Spaeth and City Attorney
Norris responded. C, issionera Benfield and Pafford absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting.of August 15th, 1932 and
Regular Meeting of August 16th, 1932, were.read..and.approved as
read.
An ordinance was introduced for second -reading entitled: "An
ordinance making,,a 111vy of taxes for general. revenue and other pur-
poses in the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1933."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and an its final adoption the -roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, bore? -and Spaeth (3)
Nays: (0) Commissioners Bonfield and Pafford.absent. (2) Mayor
approved the same and is numbered 4201.
An ordinance was introduced for second_reading.entitled: "An
ordinance levying spip pial assessments against certain property to
pay the cost of cutt ,weeds on certain lots and parts of lots and
on the parkways abutting thereon in the City.of Salina."
On motion of CS missioner Spaeth the. ordinance was read and
adopted by sections gncl on its final adoption_ _.the . Droll was called and
the following vote w#o{ had; Ayes: Stevenson, -Morey. and Spaeth (3
Nays: (0) Commisslisvirs Benfield and Pafford absent. Mayor
approved the same and 16 numbered 4202.
31 Applicattou No. 65, asking. for a sign to be erected on
front of
Sip
UnlAs Building., was received from the Farmers
Mutual Insurance Coaly, and on motion of Commissioner Morey some
was approved by the Board of Cro,Issioners.
Sign Application No. 66, asking.for a sign-to.be erected on
Bus Station, at the corner of *arta Fe Avenue and Ash Street, was
received from Cafe Casa Bonita,,. and_ on motion of. Dormnissioner Morey
same was approved by the Board of. Com 4 esioners.
Communication was received from N. A.• A. C. P. relating to
use of Swimming Pool by colored people.. Moved -b7 Ca missioner Spaeth
and seconded by Commissioner Morey that the City Clerk notify the
signers of the letter that the CoodLasionera. do. not. believe it to the
best interest of the City that the request be granted,.and that the
Swimming Pool will probably be closed for the summer in about one
week, and that the request be not considered further at this time.
Motion carried.
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
