JULY 150 1932. j Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners,.July 15th, 1932. j Meeting was called to order by -Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, .Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Bids for the paving of Ninth Street -from Jewell Avenue to center ! line of Cloud Street; and for the curbing and guttering of north side of Republic Avenue from Tenth street to Eleventh Street as advertised for received from: Cook & Cone, Ottawa, Kansas. H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas. City Engineers estimate of cost for the above mentioned Improvements was read. Commissioner Pafford moved that the contract for curb and gutter on the north side of Republ,&e-Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line of enth Street; and for the construction of Bituminous Mat Surfacing -on -Ninth Street from Jewell Avenue to center line of loud Street, be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company as per.his bid submitted,.and that the certified check of the unsue- ! cessful bidder be returned.by the City Clerk; also that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina with H. J. TAlor Construction Company for the construction of such improve- I menta. lotion carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying spoeial assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina to pay the cost or curbing and guttering Chic Street from the south line of State Street to the north line of walnut--Strdet in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." f On motion of Coamnissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had.; A as: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Paf- ford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (01 Mayor approved the same and is num- bored 4177. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and .levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and paving Front Street from the sguth line t of Walnut Street south to the Smoky Hi ver? a City of aline, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaladoption_ the roll -was called and the following vote was had; A on: Stevenson, Benfield,. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying apgcial assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of alina to pay the cost of paving Highland Circle from the south line of Ellsworth Avenue to the north line or Nololf veane in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." i On motion of Commissioner Benfield the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Paf- ford and Spaeth (5) Days: (0) Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 4179. Drive from the west line of Highland Circle to the west line o ers ng Street,in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Benfield the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and.on its final -adoption the roll was called and the 'following vote was had, s: Stevenson,. An ordinance was intryduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section_ we (2) of Ordinance No. 3986 relating to the Board of Public Works.." - On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 4183. Mayor Stevenson appointed John Frederick,'L. We Carl and E, D. Martin to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of curbing and guttering the north side of He blit -venue from Ninth Street to Tenth Street; and for the improv o nM Street from Jewell ''venue to center line of Cloud Street. On motion of Commissioner. Pafford the appointments were confirmed by the Board of C osmnis si oners . An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Seotion.3 of Ordinance No. 3821, relating to the licensing and regulation of pool and billiard halls, and repealing said original Section 3 of said ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Morey same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the Board of Commissioners adjourned. P � A. 6
