07-11-1932 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALIVA, KANSAS. JULY 110 1932. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, July 110 1932. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called -and Commissioners Stevenson, Denfleldp M®rey, Pafford and Spaeth and City attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 5th, 19320 and Regular Meeting of July 7th, 1932s were read and approved as read. City Engineer filed Final estimate to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for repairing paving at intersection of Ash Street and Ohio Street; also on Ash Street east of Penn Avenue about 116 feet., and on motion of Commissioner Benfield same was approved by the Board of Com- missioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim*" On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4176. { City Attorney was instructed to notify W. B. McMickle, d/b/a DeLuxe Cab Company, that his taxicab licenses would be cancelled July 15th, 19328 if a new bond has not been filed. Application No. 63 asking for the erection of a sign at 214 South Santa Fe Avenue,(Cunningham Motor Service Company). was received from=McClung Sign Company, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. City Engineer filed plans.and.specifications and estimate of cost for the improving .of Ninth street from. Jewell Avenue to center line of Cloud Street; and Tor Me cur ing.and guttering the north side of Republic: Avenue from Ninth street to Tenth Street. On motion of Commissioner Benfield same were approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for such improvements to be received up to and including Friday, July 15th, 1932 at 2:00 P. M. Motion carried. City Engineer filed final estimates for the improving of: Chicago Street from Walnut Street to State Street; Front Street from Walnut Street south to Smoky Hill River; Highland Circle from Ellsworth Avenue to Beloit Avenue; Ohio Street from Iron Avenue to Gypsum Avenue• Kirwin Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Fourth 6treet; Sunset Drive from Highland Circle to Pershing street; Jewell Avenue from Ninth Street to Eleventh Street. On motion of Commissioner Pafford same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing and guttering_ Chi ca o Street from the south line of State Street to the north line--oiiie--of WalnutStreet in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and j payment of such assessments." on motion of Commissioner Benfield same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading.entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and paving Front Street from the south line of Walnut Street, south to the iTC"R�ver`, in the Smoky� City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." Taxicab Bond received from Jas..McDade, and on motion of Com- missioner Morey same was approved by the Board of O mmissioners.
