09-05-1933 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBER 5, 1933. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 5, 1933. Meeting was called to order by Magor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth and City -Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morey absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 28, 1933 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4303. A petition was presented from the Master Barbers of Salina asking the City Commissioners to license and regulate the hours of the Barber Shops of Salina. Petition was ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and regulating traffic on certain streets in the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Peters same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Four applications for the sale of malt and cereal beverages were received and on motion of Commissioner Spaeth same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution provid- ing for an are light at the intersection of Third Street and Forrest Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follow- ing vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 575. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 235 of Resolution Book Number 2. A letter was received from John H. Wilson, "ttorney for the Vermont Marble Company of Proctor, Vermont, notifying the City that said Marble Company has obtained from The Mausoleum Builders Corpo- ration of Wichita, Kansas, a certain mortgage and assignment dated June 22, 1933. The following report was received from the Board of Public Works: Salina, Kansas. September 5, 1933. Board of City Commissioners, Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: The Board of Public Works at a meeting held at 1:30, Tuesday, September 5, 19330 in the office of the City Manager, had up for considerationthe project of the Walnut Street sewer and passed favorably on this project, with the added recommendation that the Emergency Relief Fund be used for the payment of the labor rather than the use of the 30-70 plan of the Public Works Administration Fund. The Board also approved the purchase of a maintainer with solid tires as offered to the City Commissioners for a sum not to exceed $1075.00. Yours truly, Chas. L. Moved by Commissioner Spaeth that Waterworks Pumping Sta- tion building be rebuilt and remodeled as recommended by the Water - Works Advisory Board, according to plans and specifications to be prepared by C. W. Shaver, Architect, and that an application be made to the Public i4orks Administration for 30% of labor and materials, and balance of cost be paid from funds of waterworks Department.
