Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 21# 19339 Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Morey and Spaeth responded* Commissioners Stevenson and Peters and City Attorney Norris absent* The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 14s 1933; Regular Meeting of August 15, 1933, were read and approved as read* An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Morey and Spaeth (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Stevenson and Peters absent, Acting Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4300* An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes in the City Of Salina, Kansas for the year 1934.11 On motion, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners* The following communication was received from the Water Works Advisory,Board: A special meeting of the Waterworks Advisory Board was held in the City Managers Office in the City Hall at 5:00 P. N. August 18s 1933 with the following members present: Roy F. Bailey, Chairman, Chas* Shavers Leon Stevenson, F. D. Kastners R. Co Gebharts H. No Lammes City Engineer and H. L. Browns Secretary., In line with the Boardta recommend ation of July 20, Mr* Shaver presented preliminary drawings and estimates for the remodeling of the pumping station at Fourth and South Streets, After due con- sideration. Mr. Stevenson moved that the Board recommend to the City Commissioners that plans and specifications be prepared by Mr. Shaver, and that the remodeling and fire -proofing of the prent bb ilding 0 which is estimated to cost between twelve and thirteen o lars, be carried out, and that application be made to the Federal Government for 30% of the Cost as provided for under the Public Works Bill. The motion was seconded by Mr. Kastner and the vote taken was unanimous. No further business appearing the meeting adjourned* H. L. Brown Secretary. On motions same was ordered filed* Fourteen applications for the sale of malt and cereal beverages were received, and on motion of Commissioner Spaeth same were approved by the Board of Commissioners* A petition was presented asking that a stop sign be placed at Elm Street and College Avenue* On motion of Commissioner Morey same was referred to the City Manager with power to act* Sign application No. 93 asking permission to erect a sign on building located at 121 North Seventh Streets occupied by A. C. Johnson was received, and on motion same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Sign application No. 94 asking permission to erect a sign on building located on Lot No. 87, Seventh Streets Original Towns occupied by Salina Used Car Market was receiveds' and on motion same was approved by the Board of Commissioners* 1 7 -J i I A petition was presented asking for the reinstatement of ' Tlgard Co Johnson to the position of motor patrol officer of the Salina Police Departments The matter was referred to the City Manager. i On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners adjourned, Y ler i
