COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
AUGUST 149 1933.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 14,
j 1933. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was
called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and
j City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Peters absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August ?, 1933 were
read and approved as read.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford
and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor ap-
proved the same and is numbered 4296.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to
pay the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots and
on the parkways abutting thereon in the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Morey same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
Petitions were presented protesting against the use of
Ninth Street as a traffieway. Same were ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution accept-
ing -trust proposal of the Governor of Kansas for the establishment
and operation of a -Federal Relief Fund from Federal Relief Funds,
i for the payment of•work relief wages on a Work Relief Project entitled
14-5A Street Improvement and Repair."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the resolution was adopt-
ed as read by the Board of Commissioners and on its final adoption
the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson,
Morey, Pafford, and Spaeth (4) Na.ys: (0) Commissioner Peters
absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 5?2•
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 232 of
Resolution Book Number 2.
Thirty (30) applications for sale of cereal and malt bever-
ages were received, and on motion, same were approved by the Board of
Commissioners.
Application for pool hall license for the last half of 1933
received from:
Rex Smoker
Lamer Pool Hall.
On motion -of Commissioner Pafford license was granted.
Mayor Stevenson appointed Harold Bates as a member of the
Memorial Hall Board of Trustees for a term of three years from April
j lstr 1933, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford appointment was con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Stevenson appointed Mrs. E. G. Padfield as a member
of the Welfare Board for a term of five years from May 21st, 1933,
and.on motion of Commissioner Spaeth the appointment was confirmed
by the Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Stevenson appointed E. A. McFadden and Jos. J. Sullivan
as members of the City Planning Commission for a term of three years
from May 1st, 1933, and on motion of Commissioner Morey the appointments
were confirmed by the Board of. Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners
adjourned,
