COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
AUGUST 7th, 1933.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 7th,
1933. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll
was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth
and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Peters absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 31st, 1933
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vbtb,was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and
Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 4294.
Sign Application No. 92 asking permission to erect a sign
on building located at 159 South Fifth Street (Larson Lumber Company)
was presented. On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved
by the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering
and paving of University Place from Baker Street to Twelfth Street.
Same was ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and paving of University
Place from east line of Baker Street to the west line of Twe1 n
rae ."
On motion of Commissioner Morey same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improvement
Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $28,050.35 t0 pay
the cost of improving certain streets in said City."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading.entitled: "An
ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement
Bonds of -the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $3,292.01 to pay
the cost of constructing a'certain storm sewer in said City."
On :notion of Commissioner Spaeth same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and regulating a certain calling, trade or oc-
cupation, to -wit: The selling and dealing in, of non -intoxicating
malt and cereal beverages, as defined in this ordinance, providing
for the licensing thereof and the payment of a license tax for engag-
ing therein, and providing penalties for the violation of the provis-
ions of this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford and Spaeth
(3) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey not voting and Commissioner
Peters absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4295.
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the Board of Corn ission-
