07-31-1933 Minutes1 1 1 u D COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMM3S SIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS, JULY 31, 1933. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 31, 1933. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Morey, Peters and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Stevenson absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 24, 1933; and Regular Meeting of July 29, 1933, were read and approved as read. An agreement was presented from the three banks of Salina, in reference to money deposited by the City of Salina. r Commissioner Peters moved that same be approved and that Acting Mayor be authorized to sign the same on behalf of the City of Salina. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims. On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called j and the following votewas had; Ayes: Pafford, Morey, Peters and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4293. i The following communication was received from the Waterworks Advisory Board: To members of the City Commission: A special meeting of the Waterworks Advisory Board was held at the Waterworks Pumping Station at 12:30 P. M. July 20, 1933* with the following members present. Roy F. Bailey, Chairman, Chas. Shaver, Leon Stevenson, F. D. Kastner and H. N. LAmme, City Engineer and H. L. Brown, Secretary. Various matters pertaining to the betterment of the Water- works Department was discussed. The advisability of remodeling the present pumping station building and the erection of additional elevated storage tank together with the advisability of the construe - tion of a water softening plant was thoroughly discussed. After considerable discussion it was recommended that Chas. Shaver be in- structed to prepare preliminary plans and estimates for the remodeling of the present pumping station building, after which further consider- ation would be given to the proposed remodeling. Mr. Kastner made a mortion that a 4" water main be laid in Second Street, north of Iron Avenue to serve consumers who are now fatting their supply from a small party line which is inadequate. lso that the power wires supplying current to well No. 3 located in the pumping station yard be placed in conduit to the possibility of damage by falling trees and limbs guardcase gofnat sever windstorm. The motion was seconded by Mr. Stevenson and the vote taken was unanimous. No further business appearing the meeting adjourned. H. L. Brown` Se—aretary Commissioner Morey moved that the same be approved and that the four inch main be laid in Second Street north of Iron Avenue; i also that the power wires supplying current to well No. 3 located in the pumping station yard be placed in conduit. An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and regulating a certain calling, trade or occupation; to -wit: The selling and dealing in, of no intoxicating malt and cereal beverages, as defined in this ordinance, providing for the licensing thereof and the payment of a license tax for an - gaging therein, and providing penalties for the violation of the provisions of this ordinance." On motion, same was referred to the Board of COMMIss ioners. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the Board of Commissioners adjourned. - --City Clerk
