06-05-1933 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JUNE 5th, 1933. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 5th, 1933. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 29th, 1933 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its ,final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes! Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4266. The following report was received from the City Engineer in reference to paving improvements on Santa Fe Avenue from Walnut Street to Elm Street: Salina, Kansas. June 5, 1933. To the Honorable Board.of Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: The excavating, grading, curbing and resurfacing of Santa Fe Avenue from Walnut Street to Elm Street constructed by the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, under contracts dated March lst and April 11th, have been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. I hereby approve the work done under the above contracts and recommend the acceptance of the work, and that the final estimates due the contractor be allowed. Respectfully submitted, (Signed) H. N.. Lamme My ingin6er. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was accepted by the Board of Commissioners* City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company for paving improvements on Santa Fe Avenue from Walnut Street to Elm Street, under contract dated March 1st, 1933* On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 426?. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from -the funds of the Water Department for the pur- chase of a temporary note of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4268. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4269* --- 1 1 1 1 City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for paving improvements under contract dated April 11th, 1933. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the funds of the Water Department for the pur- chase of a Temporary Note of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4271. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 1 to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for construction of Storm Sewer Number 11-A, under contract dated May 9, 1933. On motion of Commissioner Morey same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropraition for the payment of a certain clam." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Sipaeth. (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4272 - An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the funds of the water Department for the pur- chase of a Temporary Note of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had* Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: 10) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4273. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for'the construction of Storm Sewer No. 11-A in the City of Salina# and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issu- ance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4274. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the issuance of Funding Bonds of the City Of Salina, Kansas, in the aggregate amount of $71,966.73, for the purpose of refunding certain overdrawn funds, overdrawn bond funds, and certain indebtedness of the City of Salina, as required by the provisions of House Bill 745 enacted by the 1933 session of the Legislature of the State of Kansas." On motion of u ommissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4275. City Engineer submitted Final Estimates of Cost for the repaving and recurbing on Santa Fe Avenue from Walnut Street to E lm :street. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. i Commissioner Spaeth moved that the City Clerk publish a notice j in the official City paper as required by law that the Funding E Bonds of the City of Salina in the amount of J71,966.73 will be placed on sale at the office of the City Clerk, for not less than par and accrued interest, on Monday, June 12th, 1933 at 5:00 P.
