Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 24, 1933.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called
and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 17th, 19338 were
j read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford,
Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 4251.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company for the re -curbing of Santa Fe Avenue from the
north line of Ash Street to the north line o m ree n the City
of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay
the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford,
Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 4252.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
storm sewer on Fourth Street from Minneapolis Avenue to Claflin
Avenue.
On motion of Commissioner Peters petition was ordered filed and
referred to the Board of Public Works.
The appraisers reports for the re -curbing and re -paving of
Santa Fe Avenue from Walnut Street to Elm street were received and
on mo on oT Commissioner Spaeth, Monday, May 8th, 1933 at 5:00 P. M.
was designated as a special meeting to act on said reportd, and the
City Clerk was instructed to publish notice of such meeting in the
official City paper as provided by law.
City Engineer submitted a recommendation for change of rates
in railroad crossing lights with the Union Pacific Rail.roFt rompvny.
Commissioner Spaeth moved that H. L. Brown be re -appointed as
City Manager of the City of Salinas, -to.hold. such_ -office during the
pleasure of the Board of Commissioners as provided by law. The motion
was duly seconded by Commissioner Pafford and on a vote duly taken, the
motion was unanimously carried.
Thereupon, H. L. Brown took and subscribed his official oath as
City Manager and his official bond, filed in the office of the City
Clerk was on motion duly approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Thereupon, twity Manager H. L. Brown recommended the following
appointments:
Chas E. Banker, City Clerk
W. S. Norris, City Attorney
H. N. Lamme, City Engineer
H.H.Eberhardt, City Treasurer
L. M. Brack Street Superintendent
D. K. Fitch, Chief of Police
Ben Wolbert, Fire Chief
Roy A. Smith,, Police Judge.

It was moved by Commissioner Morey, seconded by Commissioner
Spaeth that the appointments be confirmed and approved by the Board of
Commissioners. The motion was duly carried.
On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
