COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
APRIL 17, 1933.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 17, 1933.
Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Morey, the roll was called
and Commissioners Morey, Pafford, Paulsen and Spaeth and City Attor-
ney Norris responded. Commissioner Stevenson absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 10, 1933 and
Regular Meeting of April 11, 1933, were read and approved as read*

rAn ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims.'
on motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
j adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll -was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Morey, Pafford, Paulsen and Spaeth
(4) Nays: 0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 4250.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
j ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company for the reearbing'of Santa Fe Avenue from the north
line of Ash Street to the north line of tree the City of
Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Paulsen same was referred to the
I Board of Commissioners.
Acting Mayor Morey appointed John Frederick, L. W. Carl and
P. A. Tobin to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of
certain lots and pieces of ground liable to spedial assessment for the
cost of recurbing Santa Fe Avenue from Ash Street to Elm Street.
On motion of Commissibner Spaeth the appointment was confirmed by the
Board of Commissioners*

j There being no further business appearing, the present Board of
Commissioners adjourned.
j The newly elected Commissioners being present and having filed
j their bonds, same having been approved by the Judge of the District
Court, the City Clerk administered the oath of office to:

Commissioner Stevenson having qualified. j
Commissioner Pafford nominated M. A. Stevenson as Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners and Mayor of the City of Salina for the
I ensuing term, and Commissioner Peters moved that the City Clerk cast
the unanimous vote for M. A. Stevenson as Mayor of the City of Salina
for the ensuing term.
Motion carried and M. A. S tevenson declared elected as Mayor
and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina for i
the ensuing term.
Commissioner Morey nominated R. J. Pafford as Vice Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners and Acting Mayor of the City of Salina
for the ensuing term, to act as such in the absence of the Mayor, and
that the City Clerk cast the unanimous vote for R. J. Pafford as j
�'cting Mayor of the City of Salina for the ensuing term.
Motion carried and R. J. Pafford declared elected as Vice
Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and Acting Mayor of the City
of Salina for the ensuing term.
