02-13-1933 Minutes1 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA$ KANSAS. FEBRUARY 13, 1933. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, February 13, 1933. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Paulsen and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 6th, 1933s were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Paulsen and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4232. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance providing for and authorizing the appropriation and transfer of certain amounts from the Unexpended Balance Account of the General Fund to certain other sub -divisions or departments of the General Fund." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was call -ed and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Paulsen and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4233. The following applications for Taxi Cab Licenses for the year 19330 with Liability Insurance Policies covering the vehicles described in the applications, were presented for approval, with certificates of the License Inspector showing; approval of the condi- tion of said cabs, and the City Attorney reported that he had examined and approved the applications and the insurance policies. Commissioner Spaeth moved that said applications be approved and that the following licenses be issued, upon due payment of the license and inspection fees required by ordinance, such licenses to be cancelled if approved insurance liability policies are not at all times kept in force, to -wit: License No. 54', for Whippet 4 Sedan, Serial No. 244689, Motor No. 249218, to W. B. McMickle, d/b/a DeLuxe Cab Comp any, operat- or and Jake porter Owner, covered by Liability Insurance Policy No. 96050 issued by The Mercer Casualty Company. expiring July 14th, 1933. License;:.tNb - 12, for Hudson Sedan, Serial No. 736973, Motor Number 445301 to C. 0. Sandberg, Operator and Owner, covered by Liability Insurance Policy No. 146741 issued by The Mercer Casualty Company, expiring September 20th, 1933. License No. 15, for Buick Sedan, Serial No. 1852692, Motor No. 1920879 to J. L. Bowers, Operator and Owner, covered by Liability Insurance rolicy No. 145721 issued by the Mercer Casualty Company, expiring July 8th, 1933. License No. 21, for Ford Coach, Motor No. A-3090323, to E. J. Leonard, d/b/a Independent Cab Company, Operator and E. J. Leonard owner, covered by Liability Insurance Policy No. 109287 issued by The Mercer Casualty Company, expiring. February 8, 1934. License No. 270 for Ford Sedan, Motor No. 1054472, to Lee Churchman, Operator and 'Owners covered by Liability Insurpnce Policy No. 147823 issued by The Mercer Casualty Company, expiring Deeember 12, 1933. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Pafford and duly carried. Combination Gas Fitters and Plumbers Bond received from J. A. Stauffer Hardware, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking that residents of Salina be employed as bricklayers to lay the brick that is to be laid on Santa Fe avenue between Walnut Street and Elm Street. Same was ordered filed. j A petition was presented from property owners on Santa Fe Avenue between Ash Street and Elm Street, asking that said street be widened two feet on each side of the street. Same was. ordered filed. i A resolution was introduced fo%-first reading entitled: "A j resolution relating to the recurbing of Santa Fe Avenue from the j V north line of Ash Street to the north line of Elm Street." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Sign application No. 84, received from the Kansas Dry goods Company, asking permission to ereft a sign on front of building at 113 North Santa Fe Avenue.
