COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETINGF.
COMMISSIONERS ROOD,
SALIVA, KANSAS.
JANUARY 9, 1933.
Regular Meeting. of the Board of Commissioners, January 9th,
1933. Meeting was called to order b Mayor Stevenson, the roll was
called and Commissioners_ Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 3rd, 1933s, were
read and approved as read.
The resignation of Mr. P. J. Benfield as a member of the
Board of Commissioners of Salina, Kansas was submitted as follows:

I, P. J. Benfield, the undersigned, do hereby tender my
resignation as City Commissioner of Salina, Saline County, Kansas,
and request that the same be accepted before 12 o'clock noon, January
9th, 1933. I further request that I be discharged from further
exercise of the duties of said. office.
I tender my resignation.at this time because of my election on
November 8, 1932, as County Commissioner of Saline County, Kansas,
the duties of which office I will assume on January 9, 1933.

Commissioner Pafford moved that resignation of P. J. Benfield
be.accepted to take effect as of date of January 7th, 1933. Motion
carried by the affirmative vote of Commissioners Stevenson, Morey,
Pafford and Spaeth.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation. for the. payment .of.. certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner.Morey the ordinance was read and
adopted by section and .on. _its..._ final_ ado_pti.on the roll was called and
the following . vote was _hacl;._ .Stevenson., . Morey, . Pafford and Spaeth (4 )
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same.and is_numb.ered 4226.
An ordinance wasintroduced for.second reading entitled: "An
ordinance vacating certain -portions -of the. north side of North Street
between Fifth. Street and Fourth.Street in -the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Ayes: Stevenson, Morey and Pafford
(3) Nays: (0) Commissioner Spaeth not voting. Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 4227.
A resolution was introduced.entitled: "A Resolution accepting
trust proposal of the Governor_ of. Kansas for the establishment and
operation of an emergency relief fund from federal emergency relief
funds for the payment of work relief wages on Mork Relief Project No.
14-15 entitled, Municipal Airport grading and drainage."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the resolution was adopted as
read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following
vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays:
(0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 551.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 211 of Resolu-
tion Book Number 2.
A lease..was presented,.enter.ed into between the City of Salina,
Kansas and the Salina Chamber of.Commeree• Commissioner Spaeth moved
that Mayor be authorized to sign s_ign.same.on behalf of the City of
Salina. Motion carried.
Commissioner Pafford placed.in nomination the name of E. C. Paul-
sen, as a member of the. Board of Comnisaioners of Salina, Kansas, to
fill vacancy caused by reason of.the resignation of P. J. Benfield,
said appointment to take effect January 8th, 1933, for the unexpired
term of P. J. BEnfield.

on a vote being taken* H. C. Paulson was unanimously elected
by the affirmative vote Of Commissioners Stevenson Morey, Pafford
and Spaeth* the remaining members of the Board of lonmissionerns
as a CommILs.sioner of the City of Salina to fill the unexpired term
of P. J. Benfield,. his term of office to COMMeMs January 9th,
1933, and upon his.taking,the-oath. of office .and , upon . the .filing and
approval of his official bond.
on motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
