Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 10
1934. Meetiru-, was called to order by Acting Mayor Spaeth, the roll
was called and Commissioners Spaeth, Peters and Surface and City
Attorney Norris responded. Commissioners Pafford and Morey absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 3. 1934, were
read and approved as read.
The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund was
presented for payment:
Eberhardt Lumber Company Cement X72.75
Commissioner Surface moved that claim be approved by the Board
of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance makirlL-.- an
appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of a certain
claim."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote v,,ras had; Ayes: Spaeth, Peters and 3,irface (3)
Nays: (0) Commissioners Pafford and Morey absent, Acting Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4485.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance raakin6- an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Spaeth, Peters and Sin-face (3)
Nays: (0) Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the issuance of Refunding Bonds of the City of
Salina, Kansas, in the aggregate amount of �p78,000.00 for the purpose
of refunding certain outstanding bonds of such city in a like amount,
to be designated as Series R-109.11
On motion, saine was referred to the Board Of Commissioners.
Commissioner Peters moved that the City Clerk be directed to
publish notice in the Salina Journal, the official City paper, that the
City will place on sale for cash at not less than Dar and accrued inter -
est from the date of bonds to date of delivery, attheoffice of the
City Clerk in the City Hall at Salina, Kansas, on Monday, December 17,,
1934 at 5:00 P. M. Refunding Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in
the aggregate amount of -39,000.00 being part of a total issue of
a78.,000.00 to be dated January 1., 1935, nearinE--, interest at the rate
of 3% per annum payable semi-annually on July lst and January 1st, of
each year. Motion carried.
A petition was presented asking for the re-zoning from "A"
District to "B" District of the property located at 936 South Santa Fe
Avenue, legally described as Lot 1, Surveyor's Plat "E" Saline County,
Kansas. Commissioner Peters moved that same be referred to the
City Planning Commission.
The folloiriing taxicab drivers applications for the balance of
1934 were received:

Commissioner Surface moved that application of Russell Pruitt

Bid for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 171
received from Lyon Plumbing Company.
City Engineers estimate of cost for the construction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewer 1,10. 171 was read.
Commissioner Surface moved that bid be rejected and certified
check returned to bidder, on account of bid being in -excess of City
Engineers estimate, and that the City Engineer be instructed to
construct said sewer within estimate. Motion adopted.
The appraisers report for the construction of Lateral Sanitary
Sewer No. 170 was received, and on motion of Commissioner Peters,
Monday, December 17, 1934 at 5:00 P. M. was designated as a Special
Y,eeting at which time the report will be taken up and acted on by
the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk give notice in the
official City paper as provided by law.
Acting Mayor Spaeth appointed John Frederick, E. D. Martin and
L. Vd- Carl to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain I
lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of j
constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewer plumber 171. On motion of Connais-
sioner Surface the appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commis-
sioners.

A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the application of the City of Salina for Emergency Relief
Funds in connection with a project for the construction of concrete
sideiaalks, etc.,"
On motion of Commissioner Surface the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the fol-
lowing vote was had; Ayes: Spaeth, Peters and Surface (3) Nays:
(0) Acting I,.Iayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 611.
