"3L I1` by the Board of Com-
missioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
That although it is impossible to
express in words the grief wich we feel
at the sudden passing of our loved fellow
member and ',Iayor, 1Iarvin A. Stevenson;
the complete void left in the hearts and
lives of all who came in contact with him,
either in his official capacity or in his
simple, unostentatious and often undis-
closed, but always untiring work .for the
poor and the underprivileged; the loss of {J
his wise, fair and always kindly counsel
and leadership in these trying and
difficult times; and the untold loss to
this community and to the i°rorld of the
splendid example of sterling and untarnished
manhood which he demonstrated by his of^m j
daily life to the hundreds of boys who
looked to him for friendly advice and i
help in time of trouble; and although
whatever we may saycan be at best but a
feeble attempt to express the love and
respect which we had for him, and the
feeling of the great and irreplacable loss
which his going has left, it is out
desire to convey, as sincerely as can be
expressed by mere words, our most heart- s
felt sympathy for his beloved wife, his
companion of many happy years, and to
hope that the memory of his untiring and
unselfish wor K for others, and. the last-
ing good which he acc.-)mplished by his
life, will afford at least some consoles -
tion and recompense for her great loss.`
