1934. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was I
called and Commissioners Stevenson, Peters and Spaeth and City A ttorney I
Norris responded. Commissioners Morey and Pafford absent. I

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims.'}

i On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and j
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Peters and Spaeth (3)
Nays: (0) Commissioners Morey and Pafford absent. Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 4459.
The followingclaims to be
paid from Relief Highway Fund were
presented for payment:

Commissioner Spaeth moved that claims be approved by the Board
Of Commissioners. Motion adopted..

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of certain

On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinanc:: amending Ordinance No. 3188 being an ordinance dividing the
City of Salina into zones or districts and regulating and restricting
the location of trades and industries, etc., and the uses of land in
each of such districts or zones and defining an additional Commercial
zone."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Aye s: Stevenson, Peters and Spaeth (3)
Nays: (0) Commissioners Morey and Pafford absent. Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 4461. j

P presented asking for the vacation of the alley '
north of Claflin Avenue between Fourth Street and Osborne Street, all
in the Kansas Wesleyan University Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. {
On motion of Commissioner Peters same was ordered filed.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance vacating a cer tain alley in the City of Salina, Kansas."

On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Peters and Spaeth (3) Nays:
(0) Commissioners Morey and Pafford absent. a Mayor
and it is numbered 4462. y approved the ordinance

City Engineer filed plans and specifications and estimate of
cost for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 169, in the alley
north of Claflin Avenue from a point 50 feet west of the west line of
Osborne Street to the west line of Fourth Street.

On motion of Commissioner Peters same were adopted by the Board
Of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for
bids for the construction of such sewer, to be received up to and includ-
ing Monday, September 10, 1934 at 5:00 P. Mo Motion adopted.

Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina for the balance of 1934 received as follows:
CLA SS-"B"—RE TAIL MALES CEREAL BEV RAGE LICENSE
Earl A. Cook, d/b/a Mats Cafe, 711 Bishop Street.
Commissioner Spaeth moved that application be approved by the
Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Spaeth moved that the City Clerk be authorized to
transfer City License Number 4856, issued to J. D. Middlekauff, d/b/a
Ma's Cafe from 711 Bishop Street to 117 West Elm Street. Motion carried.
Application for house moving permit received from T. A. Williams.
Commissioner Spaeth moved that same be granted, provided planks be used
while crossing Iron Avenue bridge. Motion adopted.
The following application for Taxicab License for the balance
of 1934, with Liability Insurance Policy covering the vehicle described
in the application was presented for approval, with the Certificate of
the License Inspector showing the approval of the condition of said
cab, and the City Attorney reported that he examined and approved the
application and the insurance policy.
Commissioner Spaeth moved that said application be approved
and that the following license be issued upon due payment of the license
and inspection fees required by ordinance, such license to be cancelled
if approved insurance liability policy is not at all times in force:
License Number 19, for Hudson, Serial No. X50207, Motor Number
14-6221, to E. L. Charles, Operator and Owner, covered by Liability
Insurance Policy No. 79238, issued by Central Mutual Insurance Company
of Ohio, expiring August 17, 1935.
On motion of Commissioner Peters the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
