Fleeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called) and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Peters absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 30th, 1934 were read and approved as read. j i An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making I an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." j On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Spaeth and f 'afford. (4) Na ys: (0) Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4441. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appropri- ating certain money from the Firemens Relief Fund for the purchase of bonds to be held in the Investment Account of such fund." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and i adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4442. i City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company for material furnished and labor performed in the construction. of paving improvements prior to August 6, 1934, in accord- ance with contract dated May 3, 1934. On motion of Commissioner Itilorey same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. j City Engineer submitted the following report in reference to paving improvements under contract dated May 3, 1934: Salina, Kansas Aug, 6, 1934 To the Hon. Board of Commissioners, City of Salina, j Kansas . Gentlemen: j The construction of Job No. 791, Ninth Street repaving Public Works Administration Docket Number 4928, by the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, under contract dated May 3, 1934 has been completed in accord- ance with the plans and specifications. I hereby approve the work done under the above contract and recommend the acceptance of the work, and that the final estimate due } the contractor be allowed. I Respectfully submitted, s (Signed) H. Lamme _ City Engineer. t Commissioner Morey moved that the City Engineers report as to the completion of paving improvements under contract dated May 3, 1934, be approved and that the work be accepted. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4444. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 1 and Final Estimate to L. C. Ahart for materials furnished and labor performed in the construction of sidewalks improvements on the south side of Crawford Avenue from the east line of Sherman Street to the last curb line of Hancock Street, as provided by Ordinance Number 4413 under contract i dated June 25, 1934. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. City Engineer submitted the following; report in reference nee to the above described sidewalk construction: Salina, Kansas. A ug. 6, 1934. To the Hon. Board of Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas. C. Ahart, Contractor, under contract dated June 25, 1934, has been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. Mayor approved the ordi- nance and it is numbered 4446. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance authorizing the appropriation and transfer of certain money from the 'Waterworks Department Fund to the Public Vrorks Administration Docket Number 2928 "Force Account Fund." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by s ections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: 0 Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor approved the ordi- nance and it is numbered 4447. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Construc- tion Company for material furnished and labor performed in the construc- tion of paving replacement over eater main trenches from the south line of fish Street to the south line of North Street on Ninth Street, under sub -contract dated June 4, 1934. Commissioner Pafford moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted, The following claim to be paid from Public Works Administration Docket Number 2928 "Force Account" was presented for payment: H. J. Taylor Construction Co., For material furnished and labor ! performed in the construction of i paving replacement over water main I trenches from the south line of Ash Street to the south line of North Street on Ninth Street, under sub -contract dated June 4, 1934 $4581.90 On motion of Commissioner Pafford claim was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. I An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim from Public Works Administration Docket Number 2928, "Force Account" Fund." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor approved the j ordinance and it is numbered 4448. The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund was presented for payment: j Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor 286.60 j On motion of Commissioner Pafford claim was approved by the I Board of Commissioners. P,lotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by s ections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Peters absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4450. i A notice that was filed with the County Clerk and County Superintendent in reference to taking certain tracts or pieces of land into and making the same a part of said City, was received, and on motion same was ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An j ordinance providing that certain tracts of land which adjoin the present limits of the City of Salina, Kansas, be added to, taken into and made parts of the City of Salina; extending the limits of said City j to include said added lands; defining the corporate limits of said City as extended; and epealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance." i I On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Peters a bsent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4451. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 16, Section 19 and Section 22 of Ordinance Number 2948 being an ordinance rela ting to taxicabs and regulating the conveyance of passengers for hire in the City of Salina, and pro- viding for the licensing of taxicabs and the drivers thereof, and re- pealing said original section." On motion of Commissioner Morey same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Sign application Number 122 asking for the erection of signs ! on top of building located at 308 East Pacific Avenue was received from J. N. Motio4 adopted. } Notice of cancellation was received from The Central Mutual Insurance Company of Taxicab Policy No. X 75035 issued to I. S. Pyle.
