Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson. The roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Peters and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Pafford absent. i The minutes of the Regular Meetings of July 16th, 19th and 20th, i 1934, were read and approved as read. j Sewer Bonds in the amount of $47,102.18 were placed on sale. Offers were received from the following: Estes, Payne & Company and the Columbian Securities Corporation, Topeka, Kansas. Commerce Trust Company, Kansas City, Missouri, Brown-Crummer, I-Vichita, Kansas. Baum-Bernheimer Company, Kansas City, Missouri. City National Bank & Trust Company, Kansas City, Missouri. National Bank of America, Salina, ansas. Commissioner Spaeth moved that the offer of City National Bank and Trus t Company at par and accrued interest, plus a premium of 4p26.12 per thousand, the purchaser to print the bonds, being the highest and best offer for the bonds be accepted and that certified checks be returned by the City Clerk to the unsuccessful bidders. 14otion adopted. I Bids for the construction of Waterworks Garage and Storage Building received as follows: Alfred Lindgren, Salina, Kansas. Busboom & Rauh, Salina, Kansas. Peterson Construction Company, Salina, Kansas. A. V1. Daleen, Salina, KRnsas. Fred L. Hartley, Salina, Kansas. Johnson Bros. Construction Company, Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Morey moved that the contract be awarded to Alfred Lindgren with Alternate No. 1, he being the lowest and best bidder for said work, and that certified checks be returned by the City Clerk to the unsuce essful bidders. Motion adopted. Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages in the City of Salina for the last half of 1934 received as follows: CLA US "B" RETAIL %iALT_&_ChREAL B VLRAGE DLx_ERS LICENSE_ _ J. N. Simmons, 300 East Pacific Jack Wallace, 243 North Santa Fe Avenue. Commissioner Morey moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Libaility Taxicab Policy presented from C. 0. Sandberg, and on motion same was referred to the City Attorney. i An ordinance w as introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sun of '47,102.18 to pay the cost of constructing certain storm sewers in said City." On motion of Commissioner Peters same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. i City Planning Commission reported favorably on the petition asking for the re -zoning of the following property: i Re -zoning from "B" Residence to "C" Commercial Lots 2 and 4, Block 1, E.,M. I. Addition; Lots 2 and 4 Block 6, Pacific Addition; Lots 1 and 3 Block 1, E. M. I. Addition- and Lots 1 and 3 Block 6, Pacific Addition; and re -zoning from "A Residence to 11Ce1 Commercial Lots 2 and 4 Reimolds Repla t of Block 28 Military Addition; Lots 2 and 4 Block 5, Pacific Addition; Lots 2 and 4 Block 29 Military Addition; Lots 2 and 4, Block 4, Pacific Addition; and Lots 1 and 3. Block 28, Military Addition and Lots 1 and 3 Pacific Addition. i On motion same was approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to publish notice of hearing to be held Monday, August 27th, 1934 at 5:00 P. M9 for the re -zoning of the fore- going described property. Motion adopted, City Manager presented Tentative Bidget for the year 1935, and on motion of Commissioner 141orey City Clerk was instructed to publish the same with notice of hearing as required by law, to be held August 14th, 1934 at 7:30 P. 14.
