The following Commissioners responded to roll call: Morey, Peters and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris. Commissioners Stevenson and Pafford absent. Commissioner Peters moved that on account of the absence of Mayor Stevenson and Acting Mayor Pafford, Commissioner Morey be selected to act as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and Acting Mayor. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: j "An ordinance levying special assessments against certain property in the City of Salina to pay the cost of constructing certain side- walks in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morey, Peters and Spaeth (3) Naps: (0) Commissioners Stevenson and Pafford absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4436. i An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An j ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing certain water service pipes in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morey, Peters and Spaeth (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Stevenson and Pafford absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4437. I An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina to pay the cost of re -curbing Ninth Street from the south line of Bishop Street to the south line of North Street (west of Ninth Street) in the City of Salina, Kansas , and relatin§ to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morey, Peters and Spaeth (3) Nays (0) Commissioners Stevenson and Pafford absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4438. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina to pay the cost of re -paving Ninth Street from the south line of Ash Street to the south line of North Street (west of Ninth Street) in the City of Salina, Kansas, and assessing against certain railroad companies the cost of constructing railroad crossings across said street, and relating toandproviding for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Snaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morey, Peters and Spaeth (3) Nays (0) Commissioners Stevenson and Pafford absent.
