IVieeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Peters and City Attor- ney Norris responded. Commissioner Spaeth absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of 'May 28, 1934 were read and approved as read. ! ' An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." C On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Peters (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Spaeth absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4414. The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund F was presented for payment: j Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor y�135.23 Commissioner Morey moved that claim be approved by the Board G of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted b7.- sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Spaeth absent. Taylor Construction Company for material .furnished and labor -performed in the s construction of paving improvements prior to June 1, 1934, under con- tract dated May 3, 1934. On motion of Commissioner Florey same was i approved by the Board of Commissioners. i An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an j appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and j adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the f ollowin vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Peters (4) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4417. i An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the funds of the Water Department for the purchase of a Temporary id to of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and j adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Peters (4) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is i numbered 4418. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for material and labor furnished in the con- struction of Storm Sewer Number 9-B under contract dated November 27, 1933. On motion of Commissioner Pafford the same was approved by the Board of Commissioners . City Engineer submitted the following report in reference to j the construction of Storm Sevier Number 9-B: i ! Salina, l.ansas. June 1, 1934. I To the Hon. Board of Commissioners, I City of Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: The construction of Job No. 78, Eleventh Street Storm Sewer No. 9-B, Public 'forks Administration Docket No. 3980 by the ii. J. Taylor Construction Company, under contract dated November 27, 1933, has been completed in accordance with the plans and specifica- tions. pecifica-tions. i I hereby approve the work done under the above contract and recommend the acceptance of the work, and that the final estimate i due the contractor be allowed. ! Respectfully, (Signed) H. N. Lamme j City Engineer. Commissioner Peters moved that the City Engineers Report as to the completion of Storm Sewer Number 9-B be approved and that the work be ace epted. On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Eorey, Pafford and Peters (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Spaeth absent. The tayor ap- proved the ordinance and it is numbered 4419. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the funds of the eater Department for the purchase of a Temporary Note of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford j and Peters (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Spaeth absent. Mayor ap- proved the ordinance and it is numbered 4420. jA petition was presented from residents residing in the vicinity of the Walnut Street Bridge asking that a danger zone be I I created in the vicinity of said Walnut Street Bridge. Same was ordered filed. Commissioner Pafford moved that a contract between the City j of Salina and Bernard Jolmson and Laverne Weightman relating to the erection of a Dance Pa vilion in Kenwood Park be approved as read, and that the IMlayor be authorized to sign the same. On the final adoption of the motion the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: :yes ; Stevenson, I4orey and Pafford (3) Nays: Peters (1) Commissioner Spaeth absent. Application for license for Pool Hall for the first six months of 1934 received from Lorin 0. Wilhelm.. Commissioner Itlorey moved that license be granted. I'Iotion adopted. j A petition was presented asking for the location of a light on Ash Street between Oakdale Avenue and the ~ridge west of said j 0a' --dale Avenue. Same was referred to the City Manager. A i An ordinance was introduced for first reading, entitled: "An ordinance providing for and levying a license tax upon and regulating certain callings, trades or occupations, including the operation of circuses, carnivals, amusement companies, tent shows and similar amusements or attractions and requiring a license there - for, and providing penalties for the violation of the provisions of such ordinance, and reealing certain ordinances or parts of ordinances of the City of Salina.' On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was referred to the oard of Commissioners. Onmotion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
