Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas, April 16, 1934. Meeting was called to order by Mayor
Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Paf-
ford, Peters and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 9th, 1934 and
Regular rieeting of April 14th, 1934, were read and approved as read.

The following resolution was introduced: "A Resolution
authorizing and directing the City Treasurer to sell certain United
States Government Bonds now in his hands as a part of the Gypsum Hill
Lot Ownef's Endowment Fund, and to reinvest the proceeds thereof, with
such additional money from such fund as may be necessary in the purchase
of bonds of the City of Salina."

On motion of Commissioner Morey the resolution was adopted
as read and on its finalsdoption the roll was called and the following
vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth
(5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and it is numbered 603.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making

an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters
and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and it is
numbered 4390.
The followiN claims to be paid from Public Works Adminis-

On motion of Commissioner Pafford same were approved by
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of miscellaneous claims from Pub-
lic Works Administration Docket No. 2928, "Force Account Fund."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford,
Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and it

and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called

On motion of Commissioner Pafford same were approved by the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the relief Highway Fund for the payment of
certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance rocas read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters
and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and it is
numbered 4393.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A
;resolution approving and accepting the proposed written Grant Agree-
ment submitted by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works
pursuant to the allowance of the application bearing Federal Emergency
Administration of Public Works Docket Number 4928, and authorizing and
directing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute and deliver said agree-
ment."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follow-
ina vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and,Spaeth
(5) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and levying a license tax upon all persons,
copartnership or corporation engaging in the calling, trade or occupa-
tion of operating or conducting auctions of merchandise, regulating
the conduct of such calling, trade or occupation. and providing a penal-
ty for the violation of this ordinance and reRegling certain ordinances
or parts of ordinances of the City of Salina.
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had ; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford,
Peters and Spaeth (5) Nays: t0) The Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4394.
City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the
curbing, guttering and paving of: University Place from Baker to Twelfth;!
Columbia Avenue from Ash Street to Elm Street; for the re -paving of
Ninth Street from,Ash Street -'to North Street; and for the re -curbing
of Ninth Street from Bishop Street to Nort]a Street' Railroad -crossings '
on Ninth Street from Bishop.Streeteto North Street?;
to be received up to and including Thursday, May 3rd, 1934 at 4:00 P.M.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
for the first six months of 1934 received as follows:
Retail Class "A" Malt and Cereal Beverage License
Eva Downs, 722 North Santa Fe Avenue.
Commissioner Pafford moved that license be granted.
Sign Application No. 114 received from Simpson Chevrolet
Company, asking permission to erect signs on front of buildings
located at 238 and 240 North Seventh Street. On motion of Commission-
er Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Sign Application Number 115 received from Julius Zeller, ask-
ing permission to erect a sign at 141 North Seventh Street. On motion
of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commission-
ers,
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the Board of Commissioners -
adjourned.
