COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALIVA, KANSAS.
MARCH 19, 1934.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 19,
1934. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was
called and Commissioners Stevenson; Pafford, Peters and Spaeth and
City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morey absent. '
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 12, 1934, were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and
Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4376.
The following claims to be paid from the Relief Highway
Fund were presented for payment:
Saline County, Cement, Paving Filler, Brick and
Freight
Putnam Sand & Building Co. Sand
Salina Supply Co., Asphalt Paint
Chas. E. Banker, C.Clk. Cash paid out for labor
Leidigh & Havens Lbr. Co. Lumber and Cement
Wright Norton, Rock Crusher and tractor
Madden Grain & Feed Co. Straw
R. A. Rearwin, Coal

On notion of Commissioner Pafford the above named claims
were approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and
Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved
the same and it is numbered 4377.
An ordinance was introduced entitle&,: "An ordinance appro-
priating and transferring certain monies from the Administration and
Finance Department of the General Fund to the City Court Department of
the General Fund."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and
Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved
the same and it is numbered 4378.
The following applications for taxicab licenses for the
year 1934, with Liability Insurance Policies covering the vehicles
described in the applications were presented for approval, with the
Certificates of the License Inspector showing the approval and condition
of said cabs, and the City Attorney reported that he examined and
approved the applications and the insurance policies.
Commissioner Pafford moved that said applications be approved
and that the following licenses be issued, upon due payment of the
license and inspection fees required by ordinance, such licenses to be
cancelled if approved liability policies are not at all times kept in
force, to -wit:
License Number 13 for Ford, Serial No. 2517, Motor Number
2727280, to DeLuxe Cab Company, Operator and R. E. Bucheneau, Owner,
covered by Liability Policy No. 151614, issued by the Mercer Casualty
Company, expiring April 4th, 1934.
License Number 28 for Durant, Serial No. 2797, Motor Number
24143, to Roy E. Fowler, Operator and Owner covered by Liability
Policy No. 34885, issued by Central Mutual insurance Company, expiring
November 28, 1934.
Application for Pool Hall license for the first half of 1934
received from J. D. Middlekauff (Station Smoker), and on motion of
Commissioner Spaeth same "was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
for the first half of 1934 received as follows:

Class "A" Retail Malt & Cereal Beverage License.
Thos. F. Brann, 123 East Iron Avenue

English Grill, 111 South Santa Fe Avenue.
Class "B" Retail Malt & Cereal Beverage License
Mexican Chile Parlor, 832 North Santa Fe
Wholesale Malt & Cereal Beverage License
Diversified Products Sales Co. 252-254 N. Fifth
Miller Provision & Cold Storage Co. 354 N. Fifth
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the above named applica-
tions were approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Sign application No. 112 asking permission to erect a
sign at 102 East Iron Avenue was received from the Gamble Stores, and
on motion of Commissioner Peters same was approved by the Board of
Commissioners.
Sign Application No. 113 asking permission to erect a tempo -
racy cloth sign at 153 South Santa Fe Avenue was received from Ray
Henderson, and on motion of Commissioner Peters same was approved by
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and prohibiting the keeping or displaying
of merchandise on the public sidewalks and streets within the City
of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was referred to the
B oard of Commissioners.
