j Matters which had been referred to the Board by the City Commis-
sioners were discussed, especially that of the petition which had been
i filed with the commission for the further investimation in the vicinity
north of Salina for a soft water supply. This subject provided quite a
lengthy discussion among the members present. It being the concensus of
opinion that in view of the fact that previous investigations and tests
at various time had shown that in all probability a soft water supply in
sufficient quantity could not be secured within a reasonable distance of
Salina, it was thought best, especially since there were only three
members of the Board present to withhold any recommendation to the commis-
sion and to give the matter further consideration and thought, and the
Board to meet at a later date when all members could be present at which
E time a recommendation to the commissioners could be made.
In answer to the petition presented to the City Commissioners for
a water line on Jewell Agenue, Mr. Kastner moved that a 6" water main
be Iaid'dn Jewell Avenue: west from Highland Circle to Funston thence north
in Funston to connect with the existing main in that street, approximately
150 feet south of Sunset Drive.

unanimous.
Mr. Kastner moved that the hydrant rental for the year 1934 be
e n
reduced from X35.00 each per year to w30.00 per year. Thereby reducing
the total hydrant rental to be paid during 1934 approximately X2750.00.
This motion was seconded by Mr. Shaver and the vote taken was
unanimous.

consumers, which was in effect in 1933 be continued during 1934--that
