02-19-1934 Minutes1 1 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINAS KANSAS. FEBRUARY 19, 1934. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners February 19, 1934. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morey absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 12th, 1934 were read and approved as read. A petition signed by 3,555 residents of Salina, asking the Board of Commissioners to make an effort to secure an adequate supply of the soft water from the hills north of Salina was received, and on motion the matter was referred to the Waterworks Advisory Board. A petition was presented from barbers and beauty operators in the City of Salina, objecting to the establishment in the City of Salina of a school for the instruction of barbers and beauty operators. On motion, the petition was ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of miscellaneous claims." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll wasealled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. Mayor approved the same and it is numbered 43$8. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved the same and it is numbered 439. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution approving a certain Grant Agreement between the City of Salina, Kansas, and the United States of America, known as Public Works Administration Docket No. 3980 relating to the construction of certain proposed improvements to the storm sewer system of the City of Salina, and confirming and ratifying the execution of said contract by the Mayor and City Clerk." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth (4) Nays (0) Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 602. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages numbered 270 and 271 of Resolution Book Number 2. Applications for license to sell malt and cereal beverages in the City of Salina received as follows: Wholesale Malt & Cereal Beverage License Cultra Company, 3rd & Elm Class "A" Retail Malt & Cereal Beverage License Barbee Cafe, 114 West A h Street, Frenchies Lunch, 212 N, Seventh Street Class "B" Retail Malt & Cereal Beverage License Elks Club, 120 N. Seventh Street, (additional) Norina Agnos, 111 East Iron Avenue. Commissioner Spaeth moved that licenses be granted. Lotion adopted. i A petition was presented asking for the extension of a six inch water main on Jewell Avenue from Highland Circle to Funston j Street, north in Funston to connect with the present main extending south from Sunset Drive. On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was referred to the Waterworks Advisory Board. Application No. 111 asking for permission to erect a sign on Lot 85, Fifth Street, Original Town, (Auction Stand) wasieceived from H. E. Hinkson. On motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk i I i 1 1 1 1 1
