Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 2nd, 1934.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called
and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and Spaeth and
I City Attorney Norris responded.
i The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 26, 1933, were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims.'

On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the fol-
lowing vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and
j Spaeth (5) Nays: O Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num-
bered 4343.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an ap-
propriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted
by s ections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters and
Spae th (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num-

bered 4344.

Estimate No. 1, for construction of Waterworks Pumping Station was
submitted by Chas. W. Shaver, Architect, and on motion of Commissioner
Spaeth same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.

On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and

The following claims, for labor and material used in connection j
with reconstruction of Waterworks pumping station, were presented:

On motion of Commissioner Spaeth claims were approved by the Board
of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."

On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Pafford, Peters
and Spaeth (5) Nags: (0) The Mayor approved the same and it is

numbered 4346.

ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the issuance of "Relief Highway Bonds" of the
City of Salina, Kansas, in the amount of $25,000.00 under the authority
of Chapter 94 of the Laws of Kansas, Special Session, 1933, and pro-
viding for the sale of said bonds; the manner of which the proceeds
thereof shall be used and the method of retiring such bonds."

On motion'of Commissioner Spaeth same was referred to the Board of
k Commissioners.
Commissioner Peters moved that the Waterworks Department be authorizedj'
to sell to the United Life Insurance Company Bond No. 2 in the amount
of 42300.00 at par and accrued interest;*and to sell to Geo. Welling
Bonds No. 4 and 5 in the amount of F�2300.00 each. at par and accrued
interest. Motion carried.
Sign Application No. 104 asking for the erection of a temporary
cloth sign on front of Montgomery -Ward & Company building was received,
and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board
of Commissioners.
Sign Application No. 105 asking for the erection of a temporary
cloth sign on front of building occupied by Shook Jewelry Company was
received, and on motion of Commissioner Morey same was approved by
the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the vacation of the
south 10 feet of the east 185 feet of the first alley north of Gypsum
Avenue between Columbia Avenue and Penn Avenue. Same was ordered
filed.
A communication was received from the Ministerial Union of
Salina, Kansas, in reference to more adequate -lighting facilities in
the neighborhood of the churches of this City. Same was referred to
the City Manager.
Rev. B. R. Lantz, tendered his resignation as a member of
the Board of Public Welfare of Salina, Kansas, and on motion of
Commissioner Pafford same was accepted with regret by the Board of
Commissioners, and that the City Aptorney be instructed to write
Rev. Lantz a letter in appreciation of the services he has rendered
the City of Salina.
On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners
adjourned to meet in regular session on January 4, 1934at 5:00 r'. Iv7.
