09-03-1935 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBER 32 1935. Regular meeting of the Board,of Commissioners September 3, 1935. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 26, 1935, were read and approved as read. Commissioner Peters moved that the Building Inspector be in- structed to issue a building permit to T. F. Porter for the erection of a garage at 147 South Seventh street according to sub -section "I* of Ordinance Number 3674 and to enclose the same with doors. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claim .4 On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had- Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mit- chell and Surface (5) Nays: f0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4568. The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund was presented for payment: Chas. Be Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor $238.62 On motion of Commissioner Surface same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of a cer- tain claim." On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was hgd• Ayes: Pafford, 'eters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: 11 05 Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4569. Application for taxicab drivers license received from: Loy A. Bucheneau Jas, 0. Winterbotham. On motion of Ommissioner Jackson same were approved by the Board of Commissioners* Sign application No. 154 asking for the erection of a perma- nent sign on front of building located at 114 south Santa Fe Avenue, occupied by Central Shoe Company, was received, and on motion of Commissioner Surface same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Sign Application No. 155 asking for the erection of a perma- nent flat sign to be erected on front of building located at 146 South Santa Fe Avenue, occupied by Amelias Dress Shop, was received and on motion of Commissioner Surface same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a storm sewer to serve that district north of Pacific Avenue from Third Street west to Dry Creek, and north to Euclid Avenue. Same was referred to the City Engineer. City Engineer recommended the i construction of said sewer. s A resolution was introduced: "A resolution relating to projects to be sponsored by the City of Salina under the Works Progress Administratioh." On motion of Commissioner Surface the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follow- ing vote was had; Aye $: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: 011 Mayor approved the resolution and it is num- bered 638.
