Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 19,
1935. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Peters, the roll was
called and Commissioners Peters, Mitchell, Jackson and Surface and
Acting City Attorney Jenkins responded. Commissioner Pafford and City
Attorney Norris absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 12, 1935 and
Regular Meeting of August 15, 1935, were read and approved as read.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
i appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Sur-
face (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Pafford absent. Acting Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4564.

The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund were
presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor 0423.27
;quartzite Stone Company Rock Screenings 40.00
Putnam Sand & Building Co., Sand 30.48
Leidigh & Havens Lumber Co. Cement 20.00
i Utt Lumber Company Cement 15.30
On motion of Commissioner Jackson same were approved by the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of certain

claims."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface
(4) Nays: 0) Commissioner Pafford absent. Acting Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4565.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes
by the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1936."
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and
Surface (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Pafford absent. Acting Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4566.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay
the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots, and the
parkways abutting thereon in the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface
(4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Pafford absent. Acting Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4567.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Sheridan
Street from the south line of Crawford Street to the south line of
e� public Avenue." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.

{ A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
resolution relating to the curbing, guttering of Kansas avenue from the
north line of Elm Street to a point 500 feet north of the north line of
Elm Street." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
