08-12-1935 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 12, 1935. i Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 12, 1935. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface and Acting City Attorney.Jenkins responded. City Attorney Norris absent. The minutes of the Regular,Meeting of August 5, 1935 were read and approved as read. Applications for license to sell malt and cereal beverages in the City of Salina received as follows: RETAIL CLASS "A" MALT & CEREAL BEVERAGE DEALERS LICENSE Shellway Lodge, East Pacific Street C & A Sandwich Shop, 154 South Santa Fe Avenue I RETA:L CLASS "B" MALT & CEREAL BEVERAGE DEALERS LICENSE Ed Finch, 430 North Santa Fe Avenue On motion of Commissioner Jackson applications were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Application asking for taxicab drivers license was received from Harry Fase. On motion of Commissioner Surface same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Sign Application No. 150 asking permission to erect a sign on front of building located at 152 North Eighth Street received from Owen Foran. Commissioner Peters moved that application be granted by the Board of Commissioners. Sign Application No. 151 asking permission to erect a sign on front of building located at 200 West Ash Street, occupied by Goffe-Hudgens Motor Company was received. Commissioner Peters moved that application be granted by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and regulating public dances, public dance halls and places where public dancing is permitted or carried on, pro- viding for a license tax therefor and repealing Section 1 and Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2414, being Sections 14-301 and 14-302 of Revised Ordinances 1925.0 On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was hadAyes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: (0•� Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4563. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution author- izing the City of Salina, Kansas, to file an application to the United s States of America through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for grant to aid in financing the construction of water mains in Santa Fe Avenue from the north line of Elm Street to the center line of Lincoln Avenue; Fifth Street from the center line of North Street to the alley north of North Street on the west side of Fifth Street, in the alley north of North Street from the center line of Santa Fe Avenue to the center line of Fifth Street; Sherman Street from the center line of Franklin Street to the center line of Republic Avenue, Seve nth Street from the north line of Pacific Street to the south line of Otis Street; Crawford Street from existing 12 inch main in Fourth Street to the center line of Third Street; Third Street from the center line of Crawford Avenue to a point 95 feet north of the center line of Crawford Avenue and designating H. L. Brown, City Manager and H. N. Lamme, City Engineer to furnish such information as the Government may request." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 635. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 335 and 336 of Resolution Book Number 2. On motion of Commissioner Surface, City Clerk was instructed to publish notice in the official City paper as provided by law, notify- ing property owners facing on Ninth Street between Jewell Avenue and Cloud Street to install water and gas connections where same are not now installed.
