07-29-1935 MinutesCOIZIIaSIONER6 PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM., JULY 29, 1935. Regular meet -1j -ng of the Board of Commissioners July 29., 1935. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded, The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 22, 1935, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was ha%)Ayes: Pafford Peters,, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4558* An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3138 adopted November 23, 1925, as amended being an ordinance dividing the City of Salina into zones or districts and regulating and restricting the location of trades and industries, etc., and the uses of land within each of such districts or zones etc," On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: (Oj Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4559. An ordinance was Introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance vacating a portion of Wilson Street from the east line of Fourth Street to the west line of Front Street.ft On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had* Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface (5) Nays: (05 Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4560. '125.00 for perpetual care of Trust Deed., with a deposit of Lot 1, Block 1, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas, received from Edward G. Burke. On motion of Commissioner Peters same was accepted by the Board of Commissioners and the City Treasurer was instructed to place the deposit in the gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance No. 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted* A petition was presented askinL for the curbing and -uttering of Sheridan Street from Crawford Avenue to Republic Avenue. Same was referred to the City Engineer and to the City Manager. Application for taxicab drivers license received from Stanley Ray. On motion of Commissioner Jackson application was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Applications for Pool Hall License for the last half. of 1935 received as follows: Geo, Holzmeister Matt Price Clayton Pool Hall Jack ST)recker. On motion of Commissioner Surface applications were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Bids for truck for Street Department were received. Commissioner Surface moved that the City Manager be instructed to purchase a truck for the Street Department. Sign Application No. 149 asking permission to erect a temporary cloth sign on front of building located on Lot 81, North Eighth Street (LeNore Apartments) was received from Branson Sign Company. On motion of Commissioner Peters application was approved by the Board_ of Com- missioners. Commissioner Surface moved that the City Clerk publish notice as required by law for pifolic hearing on 1935 Budget, to be held on August 15, 1935 at five o' clock P. TSI. On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
