Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 25,
1935. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called
and Commissioners Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface and
City Attorney Norris responded.
A proposed lease from the City of Salina to the Board of
Education covering land in Kenwood Bark for use as an athletic field
was presented. Mr. Dyar and Jur. Byers representing the Board of
Education were present, as were Mr. Waring, Mr. Urhlaub and Mr. Doug-
las, of the Salina High School; and Mr. A. B. Mackie of Kansas Wesleyan
University. The proposed lease was discussed.
Commissioner Surface moved that tie lease from the City of
Salina to the Board of Education for Athletic Field in Kenwood Park
be approved, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign
same on behalf of the City.
Mr. M. Angwin and Mr. Harris of Pittsburg, Kansas, offered
and presented a proposition for a franchise to furnish a bus trans-
portation system in the City of Salina. After consideration thereof
it was moved by Commissioner Peters and duly seconded that no action
be taken on the proposal submitted by Mr. Angwin at this time; and
that Mr. Wiesendanger, President of the Salina Street Railway be
invited to appear before the Commissioners at a meeting on Thursday
June 27th, 1935 at 1:30 i'. iq., and to submit any proposition which
that company might have relative to securing a bus franchise from
the City. Motion adopted.
