Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 6, 1935,
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll
was called and
Commissioners Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Surface and City
Attorney Norris responded,
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 29, 1935 and
Regular Meeting Of May 3...1935 were
read and approved as read.
Commissioner Surface moved that the plans submitted by
Mrs. Clarence P. Johnson for the erection of a drink stand at 1510
South Ninth Street be approved, and that the Building Inspector be
instructed to issue a building to Mrs*
permit Johnson for the erection
of such building. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and
the following vote was had� Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell
and Surface (5) Nays: (o Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 4534.
The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund was
presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker,, City Clark,, Cash paid out for labor f252.30
Commissioner Surface moved that claim be approved by the
Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted,

On motion Of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the

Mayor approved the ordinance and It is
numbered 4535.
City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company for the construction of Storm Sewer No. 17-B. On
motion Of Commissioner Jackson same was approved by the Board of Com-
missioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and
the following Vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Mitchell, Jackson
and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 4536.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: *An ordinance making an
appropriation from the funds of the Water Department for the
purchase
of a Temporary Note of the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on Its final adoption the
roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell
and Surface (5) Nays: to) May -or approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 4537.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for and authorizing the construction
of an elevated
water storage tank together with the necessary appurtenances and con-
nections with water mains, by the Waterworks
Department of the City of
Salina for the Purpose of furnishing additional fire protection and
water supply for the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordifiance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the

Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num-
bered 4538.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution
relatin.§ to the construction of certain sidewalks in the City of
Salina.
On motion of Commissioner Surface the resolution was
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had: Ayes: Pafford, Peters, Jackson, Mitchell
and Surface (5) bays: (0) Mayor approved the same and it is num-
bered 622.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages numbered
307 to 310 inclusive, in resolution Book Number 2.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and authorizing the construction of a
water well and the purchase of certain real estate in the City of
Salina upon which to construct such well, for the furnishing of
additional fire protection and an additional water supply for the
City of Salina.' On motion, same was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled**
"An ordinance providing for and authorizing the purchase of certain
real estate upon which to construct an elevated water storage tank
for the Waterworks Department of the City of Salina." On motion
same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina was received as follows:
RETAIL—CLASS—"B"—MALT & CEREAL BEVERAGE DEALERS LICENSE
Jennie Rodman, 119 Voest Elm Street,
Commissioner Surface moved that application be approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Sign Application No. 138, asking for the erection of
two signs on Lots 140 and 142, South Fifth Street, to be occupied
by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company was received, and on motion of
Commissioner Peters same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Trust Deed with a deposit of 4125.00 was received from
Mrs. Kate Kesler for perpetual care of Lot 57, Block "C" in the
Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Surface same was accepted by
the Board of Commissioners and the City Treasurer was instructed to
place the same in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provid-
ed by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted*
On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
