04-01-1935 Minutes1 1 1 1 u C01`WIISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. GWIMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 10 1935. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 1, 1935. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Spaeth, Morey, Peters and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 25, 1935 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, Morey, Peters and Surface (5) ways: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4525. The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund was presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk Cash paid out for labor 4112.00 Commissioner Morey moved that claim be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief highway Fund for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, Morey, Peters and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num- bered 4526. City Engineer submitted Estimate No. 1 to H. J. Taylor Construc- tion Company for the construction of Storm Sewer No. 17-B under contract dated February 18, 1935. On motion of Commissioner Peters same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, lilorey, Peters and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4527. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the funds of the Water Department for the purchase of a Temporary Note of the City of Salina ." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted bg sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, Morey, Peters and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num- bered 4528. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $18,339.53 to pay the cost of improving certain streets in said City." On motion, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A res olution relating to the construction of certain sidewalks in the City of Salina." On motion same was referred to the Board of Com- missioners. Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages in the City of Salina received from: CLASS "A" BEVERAGE DEALERS LICENSE Jayhawk Cafe, 600 North Santa Fe Avenue Glenn Gloyd, Seventh & Ash Streets. CLASS "B" RETAIL BEVERAGE DEALERS LIChNSE i Truckers Inn, (J. W. Sprout), 912 North Santa Fe Avenue Marjorie Ruch, 217 West Ash Street Commissioners Morey moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Mayor Pafford appointed Chas. F. McAdams and T. D. Fitzpatrick as members of the Library Board for a term of four years from Febru- ary 1st, 1935. On motion of Commissioner Peters the appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. A communication was received from the Continental Casualty Company asking for the release of Gas Fitters Bond issued to McCon- nell Furnace Company. On motion, Mayor was authorized to sign said i release. jThe following acceptance was received from the Union Pacific Railroad Company in reference to provisions of Ordinance Number 4506: 1416 Dodge Street Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Salina, Kansas. Union Pacific Railroad Company hereby accepts the provisions of Ordinance No. 4506, entitled: "An ordinance vacating certain por- tions of Twelfth Street in the City of Salina as now existing between the north line of Bishop Street and the main line of right-of- way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company as opened and created by the provisions of Ordi- nance No. 1902 of the City of Salina and opening, widening and extending Twelfth Street as now existing between the limits above mentioned so as to include a portion of said Tw elfth Street heretofore vacated by Ordinance No. 737 of said City." subject to the conditions thereby imposed.
