Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas, March 18, 1935. Meeting was called to order by
Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Spaeth,
Peters and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner
Morey absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of Burch 11, 1935 were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, Peters and
Surface (4) nays: 101 Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4521.
The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund were
presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk Cash paid out for labor $105.20
Putnam Sana. c: Building Company Sand 47.71
Utt Lumber & (bal Yard Cement 33.00

Commissioner Peters moved that claims be approved by the
Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of
certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, Peters and Surface
(4) hays: Commissioner Morey absent. The Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 4522.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating a portion of Hamilton Street east of Third
Street in the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Spaeth, Peters and
Surface (4) Nays: (01 Commissioner Morey absent. Mayor approved
the ordinance and it it numbered 4523.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting to Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, its success-
ors and sesigns permission to construct and maintain a gasoline pipe line
in. under and across certain portions of Iron Avenue, Fourth Street,
Walnut Street and Fifth Street in Salina, Kansas." On motion, same
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1935
received from:
Ercell Be Colliver.
On motion of Commissioner Surface same was approved by the
Board of Commissioners.

in the City of Salina for the first half of 1935 received from:

Commissioner Spaeth moved that applications be approved
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking the Board of City Comm9
to submit to the decision of the voters of Salina at the regu]
City Election to be held April 2, 1935s the following question
"SHALL THE FOLLOWING BE ADOPTED? THE CITY
OF SALINA SHALL ISSUE GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS
IN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS
($400p000.00) WITH WHICH `CO CONSTRUCT A MUNICI-
PALLY O iNED GAS DISTRIBUTING SYSTEM WITHIN THE
CITY."
The above petition was referred to the City Attorney.
On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
