Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and Commissioners Pafford, Peters and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioners Spaeth and Morey absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 11, 1935 and Regular Meeting of February 14, 1935 were read and approved as read. i Bids for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 17-B, as advertised for received as follows: Campbell and Lachenmier, Miltonvale, Kansas. H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas. City Engineers Estimate of Cost for the construction of Storm Sevier Number 17-B was read. Bids were tabulated by the City Engineer. Commissioner Peters moved that contract for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 17-B be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company of Salina, Kansas, as per bid submitted for No. 2 Vitrified Clay Wipe Sewer, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract for the construction of such sewer, and that the certified check be returned by the City Clerk to the unsuccessful bidder. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Peters and Surface (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Spaeth and Morey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4511. f The following claim to be paid from Relief Hibhway Fund was presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor 4P67.20 Commissioner Peters moved that claim be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of a certain claim," On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follgwing vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Peters and Surface (3) Nays: 0) Commissioners Spaeth and Morey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4512. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assess- ments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Lansas, to pay the cost of constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 171, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assess- ments. tt On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Peters and Surface (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Spaeth and Morey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4513. A pplication for taxicab drivers license for the year 1935 received from: Robt. M. Craig. Commissioner Surface moved that application be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Application for taxicab license for the year 1935 received from: Rol�ert M. Akins Commissioner Peters moved that application be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. ,7 1 1 The following communication was received from the City Planning Commission: Salina, Kansas. Feb. 14, 1935. Mr. H• L. Brown, City Iyianager, Salina, bansas. Bear Herb: The City Planning; and Zoning Commission held theur regular meeting in the Chamber of Commerce Rooms at 5:00 P. M., on Wednesday, February 13, for the purpose of taking up matters of business and we are pleased to submit to you for the consideration of business at the next commissioners meeting, recommendations as follows: In regards to the petition for rezoning of Lot 1, Block 4, Southern Heights Addition, the commission, on motion duly seconded and by unanimous vote, recommended that this petition be favorably received and that the territory as described in the petition be rezoned from A to D, or light industrial zone. In the peitition asking for the rezoning of Lots 17 and 19, Block 46, and Lots 1 and 3, Block 63, Military Addition, the commission favorably recommends this change. A request for permit to construct a hot -house at 217 North Olive was considered by the Commission and upon motion duly secconded and unanimous vote the commission recommends that a special permit be granted to Mr. Prather for the construction of this hot -house on the rear end of his lot adjacent to the Dry Creek dikes. However, this territory being within the A zone the commission recommends that if a special permit cannot be granted for the construction of this improvement' that Lots 1 and 2. Block 9, Surveyorts Plot 31 be rezoned from A to B zone. t - The City Planning and Zoning Commission asks favorable consideration of the recommendations as herewith offered in respect to the three petitions. adjourned.
