JANUARY 14, 1935.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 14, 1935.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pafford, the roll was called and
Commissioners Pafford, Morey and Peters and City Attorney Norris respond-
ed to roll call. Commissioners Spaeth and Surface absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 7, 1935, were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Morey and Peters (3)
Nays: (0) Commissioners Spaeth and Surface absent. Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4497.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Morey and Peters (3) Nays:
(0) Commissioners Spaeth and Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is numbered 4498.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments
on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to
pay the cost of constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 170, and relat-
ing to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Morey and Peters (3) Nays:
(0) Commissioners Spaeth and Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is numbered 4499.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to slot machines and other gambling devices; prohib-
iting the keeping or maintaining of such devices, and defining certain
misdemeanors and providing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll wasaalled and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Pafford, Morey and Peters (3) Nays: (0)
Commissioners Spaeth and Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4500.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Section 6 of Ordinance No. 4169 of the City of Salina
relating to and fixing salaries and wages of certain officers and
employees of the City of Salina and repealing said original said section
6 of Ordinance No. 4169." On motion same was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and regulating and providing for the levy and
collection of a license tax upon the business, trade or occupation of
owning, operating, and/or maintaining certain games, machines or devices
and providing a penalty for the violation of the provisions of this
ordinance." On motion, same was referred to the B oard of Commission-
ers.

in the City of Salina for the first half of 1935 received from:
