03-16-1936 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISS IONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. MARCH 16, 1936. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 16, 1936. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Morgenstern and City A-ttorney Norris responded. Commissioner Surface absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 9, 1936 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Morgesntern (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4622. The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund were presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor $244.02 Leidigh & Havens Lumber Co. Cement 87.10 Putnam Sand & Building Co. Sand 42.25 Lee Hardware Company Supplies 19.48 Total - - - - - - -,- - - %392.85 Commissioner Jackson moved that claims be allowed by the Board of Commissioners. Adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote ways had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Morgenstern (4) Nays: 0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor ap- proved the ordinance and it is numbered 4623. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3538 relating to dogs and repealing original section 1 of said ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Morgenstern (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4624. Application for taxicab drivers license received from: W. 0. Bush Belvin Fishen On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern applications were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages in the City Salina, of received as follows: _ RETAIL CLASS "B" MALT LAND ChREAL BEVERAGE DEALERS LICENSE Avis Knight, d/b/a Uptown Lunch, 332 North Santa Fe Avenue M. P. Crough, t/b/a/ Cube Steak Inn, 832 North Santa Fe Avenue On motion applications were referred to the Chief of Police for investigation. A communication was received from the County Treasurer in reference to compromise of taxes on Lot 11, Block 10, E. M. I. Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Morgenstern moved that compromise of not less than $75.00 be accepted. Adopted. 1 1 1 1 Ma yor Peters appointed John Frederick, E. B. Martin and L. W. Carl to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of: r j Re -paving Santa Fe Avenue from the north line of Elm Street i to the north right -of -way line of the Union Pacific Railroad; Re -curbing and guttering Santa Fe Avenue from a point 130 feet south of the south line of Pine Street to the south line of Lincoln Avenue; j Paving Tenth Street from the north line of Park Street to the south line of Elm Street. On motion of Commissioner Mitchell appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Jackson the Board of Commissioners adjourned. i City Clerk
