Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bid was received for the constructicn of Lateral janitary Sewers Numbered 276 and 277 as follows: H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, f:ansas X4.638.50 City 11.1ngineer's Estimate ;4880.00 Bid was tabulated by the City ''Engineer. • Commissioner lung moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construc- tion Company as per bid submitted in the amount of '1�4638.50. Iaotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain Lateral Sanitary Sewers in the City of Salina, heretofore designated. as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 276 and 277, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Carried. City -Manager reported on petition for curbing and guttering Sunrise Drive from Republic Avenue to i:iorningside Drive. A resolution was introduced I'or first reading entitied: "A Resolution re- latin,; to the curbing, guttering and grading of Sunrise Drive from Republic Avenue to i'iorningside Drive." Referred to the3oard of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amendin- Section 13-1326, Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, ransas, 1948, and repealing the original of said section." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Earcafer, ming and Price (3) Nays: Cobb and Ramsey (2) tdayor • approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5660. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, iansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 284., and provid- ing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 284, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payrient of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." A resolution was introduced for second reading entitle "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Ninth Street from the center line of Cloud street to a point 750 feet south of the south line of Cloud Street." Extension Agreement was presented from Central Kansas Fish and Game Associa- tion, Inc., Commissioner King moved that City bianager be auti orized said agreement. Carried. T. V. Ordinance. City Attorney advised that City Manning Commission be asked to pass on their recommendation of deleting wording in :item 3, Section 17 of Zoning Ordinance, on height of aerials. Commissioner ping moved to refer the matter to City Planning Commission. Carried. Letter and resolution presented from State Highway Commission, regarding allowance for additional mileage on State highway maintenance. Commissioner King moved to approve and T:ayor authorized to sign. married. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City i,La.nager: Curb and gutter Liorningside Drive from Sunrise to Roach. Paving all streets in Likins-Foster Addition and the South one-half of Repub- lic Avenue along the North boundary line of said subdivision Concrete Construction Bond presented from David Nuss. On motion of Commissioner ?rice approved by the Board of Commissioners. Carried The matter of increasing taxicab fares was discussed by the Board of Commis - sinners. Commissioner Cobb moved to increa e taxicab fares for all territy, except the Air Base. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 13-1326, Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas 1948 and repealing the original of said section." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Wilson and Company, Engineers, presented Tentative Sewer Plans. Commissioner Price moved to accept. Carried. Commissioner Price made motion that City Attorney have abstractor prepare description of land affected for Benefit District. Liotion adopted. L_ayor asked opinion of other Commissioners regarding more signs at State Street and By-i'ass. Referred to City Lianager. On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk u 329 A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving with concrete, the alley between Third S+reet and Fourth Stre(t from the north line of 0Ialnut street, 400 feet more or less to the Smoky Hill River." On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Bar- cafer, Kind; and Price (3) I1ays: (0) Commissioners Cobb and Ramsey absent.
