Regular Leeting of the Board of Commissioners i:;ay 26, 1952. Meeting was
called to order by Layor Barcafer, t1- 'e roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, King, Price and Ramsey and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Leeting of Iviay 19, 1952 were read and approved
as read.
Pursuant to notice published in the Salina. Journal bids were received for
Salina Fublic Library Improvements as follows:

Commissioner Ding moved that bids be referred to Library Boaru for their
consideration.
Library Board reported in favor of Frank Fessler.
Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract be awarded to Frank Fessler and Bid Bonds
returned to unsuccessful bidders. l._otion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced -or first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming the contract of Frank Fessler for the alterations and equipping
of the Salina Public Library for the City of Salina, Kansas." Ordinance was
referred to the Board of :ommissioners.

Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received
for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 276 and 277 as follows:

Commissioner Price moved that all bids betejected on account of being in
excess of City Engineer's estimate; also that (;Leeks be returned to bidders. Garried.
Commissioner Price moved tiat City Engineer be instructed to adverties for
bids for the construction of Lateral Oanitary Sewers iiumbered 276 ';and ;277 to , j
be received up to and including laonday, June )th, 19 2 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
Lember of Real Estate Hoard appeared before the Hoard of Commissioners and
'vuas
discussed the matter of preliminary appraisal for Flood Control land. to take
up matter with special meeting of the Board and report.
City Attorney was instructed to report on T. V. Urdinance at the next
Leeting of the Board of Commission rs.

Building Application Plumber 3549 presented from Fred i}riegel. fie was
instructed he could file petition for rezoning to "B" `Lone, which would be necessary
in his case.
City manager reported on the following petitions:
1318 For paving alley next west of Lot 116, on Seventh `'treet in Uriginal
Town of71ina. Held over until next meeting.
1317 For paving center parking in Ash street from iiansas to Des ivioines.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to t lie paving with concrete of the ten foot center parking in Ash `'treet
from Kansas Avenue to Des ,ioines." Resoliti n was referred to the Board of Com-
missioners.
1319 For paving of Grant otreet from the north line of :forth Street to
the south line of the Rock island Railroad Highu-of-uray.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the paving with concrete, Urant Street from the north line of North
Street to�he South line of the Rock Island Railroad Righ-of-iiay." Resolution
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
1320 Tor sewer in huclid Avenue mom Fifth Street to Ninth Street.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining aoertain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of
• Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 285 and
providing for the construction of a--ateral sanitary sewer insaid Lateral Sanitary
Sewer District dumber 285 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost
thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property insaid
district for the payment of the cost of such constructioii and for the issuing of
bonds to pay the cost thereof." Orclinance Baas referred to he Board of Commis-
sion rs.
1321 For sewer in Likins-Foster Addition.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the (I ty of
SL -1 ina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District "umber 286, and pro-
viding for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer insaid Lateral Sanitary Sewer
Distr-ict Number 286, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof
and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district
for the payment of the coat+ofsti-ch construction and or the issuing of bonds to pay
the cost thereof." Ordina,ice was referred to he Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance w as introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance ratify-
ing and confirming a contract with the h. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain curbing, guttering and grazing improvements on certain streets
in the City of Sal ina, and providing for the issuance of Temporary Notes to pay the
cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
• levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing
certain water service pipes and sewer connections in certain streets in the City of
Salina, Kansas." Ordinance -was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the Board of Commissioncrs adjourned.
City Clerk
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
-,roviding for tulle inclusion of ce tain land within the corporate limits of the City
of Salina, prescribing the corporate limits of said City and repealing Section 6
of Ordinance Number 5655." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Application for permission to own and operate an additional Taxi. Company
in the City of Salina was presented from Emery F. 1:lein. Appli_.at on filed for
future reference.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making appro-
pration for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Trice the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
