Regular ivieeting of the Board of Commissioners Iviay 19, 7.952. meeting was
called to order b;✓ Layor darcafer, t e roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, Kin;, Price arid Ramsey and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutesof the Regular Ivieeting of Iia, 12, 1952 wereread and approved as
read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apport_,_orzi.ng and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in yr Vity of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of constructing later-
al sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts numbered 265, 266 and 267,
arid relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance wasread and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final aoption ti,e roll was called and the following vote was had;

Ayes: Darcaier, Cobb, tiini;, rrlce and i6amsey (5) mays: (0) Lia or approved
the ordinance and it is slumbered 5651.
An ordinance was introdu-,ed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on c ertai. n lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of grading and paving
Eleventh Street from trie 14orth line of Wilson S reet to he North line of Republic
A enue; for the paving and grading of Grand -venue from the West line of Tenth
Stre::t to fie Viest line of Eleventh Street; for the paving and graing of Kirwin Avenue
from the 'Vest lime of Pershing Street to the East line of Funston Street; for the
paving and grading of Lamar Street from the East line of Fourth Street to the west
line of Third S reet; for t he paving a nd g rading of Penn Ave ue from the South 1 ine
of Gypsum Avenuo to tree north line of Smoky Hill Drive; for the paving and grading of
Reynolds S�.reet from the North line of Lincoln Avenue to t he South line of Broadway
Boulevard; and for she paving and grading of Twelfth Street from the North line of
Lincoln Avenue t o the South 1 ine of Grand Avenue, and relating to and providing for
the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sections

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutter-
ing and paving arid grading for a vridth of twenty feet X20 feet) the East side of
Fo .rth Street from the North line of Crawford Avenue to the South line of Prescott
A'enue; f or the curbing guttering, paving and graying of Grand Avenue from the
west line of Eleventh S reet to �, he west line of Twelfth Street; for t he curbing,

guttering, paving and grading of Gravid Avenue from the west line of Twelfth S reet
to the East line of Thirteenth Street; for the curbing, guttering, paving and grading
of Tenth Street from the north line of Grand Avenue to the South lime of Woodland

Lissouri racific Railroad Tracks to the East line of Clark Street; and relating to
and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption tide roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, King, Price and Ramsey (5) mays: (0) Mayor approved the

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutber-
ing arid grading of t e north side of Charlotte Avenue from the east line of Simmons
Street to the west line of Fourth Street; for the curbing, guttering and grading of
Cloud Avenue from the west line of Simmons �Itreet to the west line of Union racific
Railroad Right -of -stay; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Ellsworth Avenue

On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, King, Price and Ramsey (5) Jays: (0) lulayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5654.
An ordinance was introdu.:ed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providingfor the inclusion of certain land within tie corporate limits of the City
of Salina, prescribing the orporate limits of said city and repealing Section 7
of Ordinance Number 5631."
On motion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its finaladoption the roll aas called and the following; vote was
had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, ging, Price and namsey (5) days: (0) ivayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5655•
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving with concrete of Illinois Street from the west line of Sherman
Street to tr.e east line of Custer Street."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and
on its final-doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, King, Price and.Hamsey (5) Nays: (0) h1ayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1312.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 382, Resolution Hook
Number 4.
Letter was read from the idssouri r'acific Railroad Company relating to
petition filed February 9, 1)52 for rezoning their property between Crawford and
Republic to "F" Light industrial. Commissioner King moved that peti-
tion be denied. Carried.
Petition from Lirs. EmmaShuberg, presented Lay 12th, 1)52, was again taken
up by the Board of Commissioners. iteferred to City I,anager for checking,
have Iver -et signers on new petition definitely stating that Ash 6 reet between
Kansas and Des LoInes (1000 Block) be paved with concrete. Carried.
Petition presented from Likins-Foster Corporation for temporary zoning for
Batch Plant on 1�1issouri Pacific railroad property, south of Crawford 1�venue.

Letter presented from City Planning Commission approving Plat of Sunset

Commissioner King made motion to authorize City Manager to contact Salina
Housing Inc. with regard to ti:em repairing the Veterans Housing; Units, and operating
them for the City, collectiong all r ent, and paying expenses therefrom. Carried.

r.,orningside Drive. Referred to petitioner for more signers.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Ninth Street from the center
line of Cloud Street to a point 750 feet south of the south line of Clog Street."
Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating; to the paving with concrete., the alley between Third Street and Fourth
Street from the North line of Walnut Street, 400 feet more or less to the Smoky Hill
River." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first read -ng entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of
Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 284 and provid-
ing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer
District Number 281, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof
and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district
for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to
pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
